I am late for my period.. I am 46 and have been having different symptoms of menopause.. Seem like when one or two spring up the others do subside somewhat.. Anyway I haven't ever missed any periods yet.. Now I am a few days late and I have one hive that is driving me crazy.. Is this normal for peri?? Also can periods just abruptly leave and not return???

I don't know if it's normal for peri, but I do get hives from time to time and they are very annoying! wink.gif

Hello,
I got a bad case of hives 6 months after my periods stopped and mine just stopped abruptly at 51. I skipped 3 months once but it was due to stress as I was going to go for surgery. Then, went back regular and they stopped last December. So I am assuming that I am pre-menopausal.
4 months after they stopped, I started to have all kind of weird symptoms, hives being one of them

Hello.. so glad to hear from you.. I haven't missed any periods yet but this month I am a few days late... I only have one hive so far.. Also my breasts are swollen and the nipple area is so red and super sore.. did you do any of that right before you stopped your periods abruptly.. I am so paranoid of being pregnant.. which I shouldn't be worried.. I had my tubes cut burned and tied 10 years ago.. but I am still stessing about it.. Am I crazy??? My breasts look like I did when I was pregnant and I am bloated also... sorry to bend your ear, just really confused. Thanks so much for helping me out here.. DEBBIE

hello again,
breast super swollen and sore; I know about that : it is due to hormonal imbalance big time and got really worse for me as I went into peri. 3-4 years before my periods stopped it was non stop and I got really worried about it. I don't know about the physical feeling about being pregnant as I have never been in this situation. this being said, I have had sore nipples but my soreness was coming behind the nipples and I was told by my doctor that it was due to estrogen surges. If the redness persist though, you might want to address that to your doctor. the redness could be part of the hive. Is it itchy as well? The bloating I have also been through that in the past ten years but I changed my diet and do not eat any longer any food with gluten, yeast or wheat or cheese or caffeine and the bloating has really really decrease a lot but not completely. I feel much better on this aspect.
Hope it helps.
take care and keep posting, don't be sorry. We all are on this site for the same reasons as you. Sometimes it is to get answers and sometimes it is to help others figuring out some answers and to get reassurance.
It seems to me though that you are really starting to show sign of anxiety, which is a feeling I can really relate to.
