I'm at a restaurant. it is 70 degrees out (I am in New Mexico) and am dressed in light layers. All of the sudden, about 20 minutes after I got here, my neck got all hot and sweaty, just a little , and I had to pull my hair up. Then 5 minutes later it was over. ??? I've been on Sprintec the last few months and it is NOT working for me. Orthocyclen is a much better pill. Also, very strange, I threw my breakfast up. I never do that. I am only 39, reason why I am writing this post. Yikes. I can't believe this happened. I've been feeling a little bit better lately with some added progesterone. Definitely an overhaul is in order. I will not sweat on myself in public!!

I’m 52, no period in 4 years now. The hotflashes started in peri. I thought they were going to be a cakewalk, but it’s really a nightmare. 4 years is way too long to deal with it.

I ‘m beginning to believe that there’s a few different types of hotflash experiences. I have several a day. They’re pretty timely too, like, I have one a soon as I wake then 10am 12pm 2:30pm 4pm then not again till 7pm 9pm and then I’d have one when I was trying to go to sleep. And what I hate about the bedtime flash is that is no matter how sleepy I am when I hop into bed, that hot flashes gives me a little adrenalin jolt and it takes awhile to settle back down to sleepy mode.

But what’s different than your flash is mine never seemed to last longer than a minute. I think its an every changing experience too because for me severe agitation would always precede a hot flash. I knew a hotflash was coming because I’d get really agitated. But now, within the last month, no more agitation but now the hot flash builds more slowly and tends to linger maybe 3 to five minutes. And I steam; for instance, if I have a hotflash in my car and its cold out, if I don’t turn my defroster on my body heat will fog the window. Extremely embarrassing.

How long does a "regular flash" last? It seem, as I’ve had nothing but miniflashes.

Mine have lasted anywhere from a few seconds to an hour and a half! Usually about 15-20 minutes is my average though. Not much of a flash actually...more of a slow burn.

Dear 'catrinac'
That is the reason I went onto HRT at age 38 as was fully Menopausal.I live in a very hot country anyway so could not tolerate the hot flashing and flushing along with all the other symptoms.
I am not suggesting this is the answer for you or anyone else but personally has been the best solution for me.
Hope you feel better soon and get exactly what works well for you.
All the Best
Elizabeth
