Total meno heart stuff all of a sudden - no flashes or other bad meno symptoms, just this week, after THREE YEARS I got a period and these daily heart jumping things - feels like my heart is actually turning over - its hurts really but only for 10 secs then it stops and I feel kinda sick to my stomach then OK. Has happened twice in two days - still having a period... so weird after three years not having one... meno stuff sort of settled down and now this.

I take an arsenal of supplements and 500+ of mag daily.

WTF?! (Sorry, just so OVER the meno garbage).

twistoffate,
That's weird... I also have that heart flop thing going on. I had that checked out last year in the ER and they admitted me saying I had a small A FIB. (can't spell it ). I had every heart test there was and even went home with a monitor. All the doctor said was as long as my heart kicks back in quickly I'll be fine. It usually happens for no reason and said alot of people have this and don't know it and go on with their lives. Well I did research on it and it could be dangerous in the future especially if you have a fast heart rate, which I do. Stress is bad with this also which I have all the time.
I've been period free for 7 yrs and I'm 46. Last yr my doctor thought it would be a good ides to start hrt for anxiety. Well it did nothing and after 2 months I stopped taking it and got an awful period. But it was just that one. I know how you feel about that. I only take women's vitamin, fish oil, and 2,000 units of vit. D drops. And can't forget about the dreaded AD and klonopin. Never get meno symptoms just extreme anxiety and lack of sleep.
Hope you feel better soon ......
Ms. Anxiety
I too have A-fib and a fast heart rate. The most troubling symptoms seem to occur right after my period so I assume there is a hormonal connection. It doesn't happen each month so maybe it has to do with ovulation or non-ovulation. It was especially bad late this summer and I found out that I was anemic and also I needed thyroid meds increased. These things probably were contributing factors. I also believe that I have some moderate adreanl fatigue which can be a contributing factor.

I use 800 mg. of magnesium glycinate daily along with fish oil and in the past progesterone cream (compounded) has helped although I do not seem to need the progesterone as much as I did in the past. Also because of the A fib I take a low dose asprin each day due to the increased risk for blood clots/stroke with a fib.

Hi, I am new to the site and have read every post!! I too get these darn really strong heart flips that actually hurt or send a fleeting pain across my chest. These are sometimes followed by a hot flash but not always. Sometimes it leaves me with a feeling like a lump in my chest or throat. I am in peri and have very irregular periods. I was on Effexor for anxiety for several years but weaned off last spring. Never had meno symptoms, according to my doctor, because of the Effexor. Well, I am certainly making up for it now. Had severe anxiety attacks when all of this started. Was sure I am prone to PVC's but have had my heart checked and cardio doctor not to concerned. Would love some reassurance that what I am experiencing is just an unpleasant part of my meno journey! Thank you for all of your support.

I am post-meno and my heart has been doing some weird things too. I had to go on beta-blockers and it has made all the difference in the world. No more palps and my heart rate has been greatly reduced.

I am also on a beta blocker, Atenolol 25mg. I have taken it for years but I still feel all the bumps and thumps of various heart beats. Drives me crazy! I was first put on BB because of PVC's making me really anxious. Now I am wondering if all these PVC's were just the start of meno??? At first the BB made me really tired but I can tolerate them much better now. I just wish I knew for certain that these heart thumps were just part of the process and not heart related. I have had echo, numerous ekg's, calcium score and thallium stress test but I'm still scared every time I get a chest pain, heart skip, or surge (what the heck are these things)!! Maybe we are just lucky ladies to be so "in touch with our bodies"!
