A little over two weeks ago after being post menopause for two years a full blown period...did the ultrasound...lining about 5.2...not what they want so on to Hysterospy...can't do that cervix too narrow...now D and C on Monday...meantime today just two weeks after initial event more spotting...I just keep reading the posts on here about this and while reassuring at 60 it is terrifying...I guess I will know more on Monday but this event today has me really unnerved...doctor's office does not put calls regarding this on a high priority...I guess the Post Meno Bleeding can be way more than a one shot event which I was hoping for....any words of wisdom?? Thanks.

I just read a thread on this a few days ago. Search it out. It will probably reassure you. I think the number they like to see is 5, so 5.2 is pretty much there. Many women had 7-9 thickness and had the testing and ended up being nothing serious. Some even found from initial measurement to treatment the uterine lining had shrunk. You are so on the cusp, I bet you are just fine. I know this stuff is scary, you think you are clear sailing once the periods stop. I am finding then there is all other kinds of things to worry about... jeesh does it ever end? Hang in there. I think this can be quite a common thing. But, always good to get checked out. Mich

Thanks Mich...you pretty well summed it up. I did get a call from the nurse who was very nice and thoughts about the same as yours...for some reason I don't know alot of people to which this has happened therefore it is great to have this forum to search on or I would feel very alone. My mother died a couple of years ago and I wish I had asked her more questions about her experience...she was pretty silent on the subject and back then I was too busy with my life to ask. for all I know she had this too....according to the nurse 98-99% of these episdoes are not dangerous only inconvienient and the D and C should clean things out. I will report on Tues. so that future "victims" can read more comments to assure them.....

Dear 'kathy49'
I am fairly sure everything will be well.Apparently Post Menopausal bleeding is fairly common and the D and C should be effective.
I am 58 and had this procedure done about six months ago, because although I am still on HRT I was having too much break through bleeding and spotting.
After the procedure was off the HRT for a month and then went to the Gyno. who agreed to let me back on a low dose.I always have regular check-ups and so far so good.
Wishing you lots of luck and please let us know how you get on
All the Best
Elizabeth

Hello Kathy49,
My friend had a full blown period after being post menopause for 7 years. had her D and C and was fine. nothing more to report. I did not know it could happen and just be nothing but I learn from her that it is apparently not as uncommon as we think.
I know no words are reassuring enough when we go through this waiting game but it sounds like you will be ok.
take care

It has happened to me as well, next time it happens Doctor wants to do a biopsy, I guess that means a D and C??? My lining when it was last checked was a smidge thickened but nothing to get excited about. Gee and after 18 months I thought I was home free. Who'd a thunk?????????

Seems like we all want this to be over because we think we will be home clear. Seems a whole new set of worries can crop up when your through meno. Good lord, stop the madness...lol.
