A year ago I would have said there are no miracle hair care products, especially not from the drug store. I'm 39, have been on Orthocyclen since I was 33. My hair was fine till last year.

A few days ago I bought a product from the Sally Hershberger drugstore line. It's called " style primer"; it is applied before other products as a kind of "boost". I bought the primer for fine hair. The label says that it "gives hair guts", which it really does.

I am astounded at how much more body and texture my hair is, and also how un-frizzy, smooth and healthy it feels. My hair is completely fried from months of flat ironing. I was not sure I would be able to continue growing it before using this.

Big raves for Sally Hershberger!

I had hair-loc extensions for 2 years and it broke off a lot of hair and I have fine hair already but just lots of hair which helps. So after getting the extensions out I began taking Biotin and Jarrosil along with Vita E and using Nioxin and Hair Mayonnaise and my hair is growing like crazy now, and very very thick. I guess I'll stick with this formula I got going and hopefully grow my hair back out again.

Thanks for this tip!! I just googled it and they sell it at Target for less than $13! I have naturally wavy, fine hair, I think this might help!! I'm stopping on my way home from work TODAY!

Hi Catrinac,

I'm looking at the Sally Hershberger website and am a little confused about which product you are using. I see one that's called a foundation, used to prepare your hair for supreme style and another called Supreme Style, but I don't see anything called
Style Primer. I'd like to get it, but want to make sure I'm getting the right one.

Thanks,
Donna

When I want to go natural (curly) The best things are silicone free conditioners (no shampoo method) and molasses or honey mixed with water rinses. I also mix the molasses in a small spray bottle and use it to refresh curls and for scrunching. Works wonders after just a few days of no shampoo !

You can read up on the curly girl site for more tips. Great stuff!

I have read about the no silicone theory and wanted to try it but instead just clarify every week and hope for the best. I've had a lot of luck with sulfate free shampoos. I use Organix now (sold at Walgreens, Target, and Wal Mart). For volume I use John Frieda products, the volumizing line in the light blue containers. The spray root booster is great. I started using a leave in spray conditioner on my roots by L'oreal from the sulfate free line. Label says "UV protector". I don't think it really protects from UV rays though.
I also picked up the conditioner for fine hair from the Sally Hershberger line. Best smelling conditioner I have used in years... smells like the ocean. The Sally Hershberger stuff is really worth stocking up on. It's hard to tell if the line is being continued or dc'd. They put that "last chance" sticker on some of the products.

I really wish I had read this thread earlier.. I just left target! My hair is baby fine and could use some more body. I do like the rich color and shine I get from Pantene's brunette shampoo. It makes my hair look great as far as color but it leaves it with static and if I use conditioner it just flattens to my head. I did find a sulfate free shine conditioner that leaves a healthy shine. It's at big lots for just a couple of dollars. It's from Freeman.

THanks for this tip! I went to buy Nioxin today and it was $20 for the small bottle! Forget it, I'm going to target smile.gif

Went to Walgreens and bought the Sally Hershberger primer. It was on sale for 6.98 or so... it works. It gave my baby fine hair more body. I had watched the video and was a tad disappointed in that the video seem to show her sraying this as though it were a mist. It's not.. it's foam. I have bottles and bottles of root foam... but I'm hoping this is one I can stick to.

thanks for the tips everyone... off to buy some monastat cream to use as primer that was mentioned months ago and I never got around to getting it.

Nick Chavez "Flocker" has been a life saver for me. I use hot curlers and instead of hairspray, I rub Flocker through it and it adds a lot of body and shine and looks thicker. The style lasts longer too. This suff is on the pricey side if you get it from Ulta. I get it from there if I absolutely have to. Other times, I order it from Ebay or HSN. I can get three for what I pay for one at Ulta.
