Last night I got what felt like a hot flash but it wasn't hot. My head started pounding like blood pressure was rising (normally have low blood pressure) and then a little dizziness, then finally a chill came over my body with goosebumps. Then it went away and repeated several times. I did start a new anti depressant 7 days ago, not sure if that is related or not. Just curious though could a hot flash be a cold flash instead? Thanks ladies, Mich

I've had this and it really whipes me out in the morning. That's why I posted "hot flashes without the heat".I know it feals like pressure so I take my blood pressure and it's fine. Then sometimes I get just hot prickly sensation in my upper back, makes my chest sweat but that's it.It seams like some kind of wave of something because it comes and goes mainly at night.

I did hear like a rushing heart pounding in my ears/head. Then a bit of the dizzies etc. This is the first time I have really experienced this type. It did happen in at night. Normally like I said I have low blood pressure, just had it taken last month. I have had the chest sweats on occasion. Slight headache, nothing major. This morning I actually woke up earlier than I usually do 7:30am, I tend to go to sleep late and wake up late (11:00am) I know how self indulgent can I get, lol. I feel a little "icky' this morning but not unbearable. My face feels prickly for lack of a better word. Isn't this fun, lol??? Thanks for replying and have a good day. Mich

I have always been colder than the average person my whole life. For the past couple of years in peri I have had a lot general warmth and hot flashes but unless it was summer and I wasn't in an air conditioned environment they were not as much of a problem for me as they are for some. In a way they enabled me to tolerate cool conditions better than I had before. I am now at the tail end of peri and in the past few weeks have been unusually cold. Aside from the occasional mild flashes I have been feeling chilled to the bone. My last period was almost 2 months ago but I have been spotting for about 2 weeks now and can tell by fluid levels etc that my estrogen has bottomed out. I always thought that hot flashes got worse when estrogen levels went down and one was at the final stages of peri or early post but that doesn't seem to be happening with me.

I am taking Pristiq -- I am on the 8th day. Overall, it hasn't been too bad. Just don't know if this was hormonally related, period is due anytime now or if it was a side effect of the med. I hope if it's the med, it goes away because I think this AD is doing good so far.

Mich,
I have no hot flashes, mostly cold and goose bumps. It is also hypothalamus in work, I never single hot flash during the way, few night sweats, but when I get something u describe, I am shivering after, like a cold spell over me. It is related to hormones, I am 100% positive, this was my first meno symptom, anxiety, heart pals and chills, and then complete exhaustion and sleepiness.
Best,
I.

I get all kinds of strange stuff all starting the beginning of this year (as do most of us here). Bone chilling cold where I was shivering with blankets piled high, sweaters on, socks on and teeth and insides still chattering (like I had a fever but didn't) curled up in a tight ball fetal position (had that 3x). Twitches, internal tremors, aches/pains, you name it I have had it. Right now my face feels like it has a sunburn. It could be the AD or it could be hormones. As I said my period is due any day now. I can hear my heart pounding in my body and in my head. Just waiting it out to see how things go. That is the miracle of the AD for me, before AD I would be freaking out and panicking. Now, I can take a wait and see attitude. I normally have low blood pressure so I want to be careful nothing goes haywire in that area. It's a bit disconcerting to feel my heart beating in my ears. I feel ampy/jittery inside too. I'm sure a Xanax would calm that down but my RX is 1mg per day and I usually take that to sleep. I'm really careful I don't go overboard with those. However, I may break my rule if I can't settle down. I figure if Xanax calms it then it could be hormonal vs an AD side effect. I'm never really sleepy, I yawn, but, I'm almost never exhausted enough to sleep without assistance. I can feel lazy for sure, but, never exhausted. I used to feel really tired all the time in my early 40's, I used to have to take naps at lunch during work. Those days are long gone, lol.

Take care,
Mich

I can bet it is hormones, I feel the same before my period, and I take no ADs, only xanax 0.5 mg before bed time.
The heart beat in your ears is annoying, tell me about it, and all the rest of the works: the chills, the fetus position, the aches and pains, bone chilling cold ( this has passed for me), and I used to have exhaustion in my 40s, I did not take a nap at work, but sometimes i felt like i will fall on my face, LOL.
I have more energy now, but post ovulation, I get very sleepy, around days 19-21, I need no xanax but I just take it as I know, i will wake up at 2-3 am and be watching TV, LOL.
Xanax calms in any situation, I no longer go to ER, even when I have nasty chest pain and yawn, this is all anxiety work, I know it.
Anxiety can materialize into dozens of physical and mental symptoms, I have learned by now, I had in my 20s and I have it now, and I had it all my life, to certain degree, just my body was younger and could handle it better.
best wishes,
I. smile.gif

Hi Mich .........

Yes, i've had everything you've mentioned, probably most of us here have. I can't speak on the medication issue here, I'm not famiiar with that one, BUT, it does sound a lot like anxiety. Not only do I myself have everything you mentioned, but so do two of my sons! They are in their 20's, but they have lots of anxiety! So, I have a feeling it could very well be anxiety .... now, I also believe that the hormones have a GREAT DEAL to do with this! I mean, they affect EVERYTHING! So, when you put the two together, it's a "wonderful" combination! I've had so many horrible horrible symptoms from that combination, and just like you, have laid there in that fetal position, covers up to my nose, just shivering, or aching, or ....well, whatever. Sometimes, just to afraid to even get up, and start the day!
So, yeah, this is lots of fun ...... I just wish someone had told us all of this years ago!!!! dry.gif
