Hi ladies

So I have been watching my cycle now for a few months and what I am noticing is that everytime my estrogen goes up (just before ovulation) I get this very heavy feeling in my pelvis. And I hate sitting. And my BM's get norrow and thin (I know TMI).
It feels like that whole area is sensitive and swollen. I just had a CT scan and no fibroids were seen. Anyone else feel like this?

Do you have problems keeping a tampax in? I was diagnosed with a uterus prolapse, which in turn created a bladder prolapse. Same symptoms as you.

Hiya Sybill

Umm..I haven't used tampons in years because they feel uncomfortable. Like I can REALLY feel them and they tend to stick out...sorry if that is TMI... smile.gif
Does that make sense?

For what it’s worth..it does to me……I’ve had the same issue all my life…no dx of prolapse here.
Started peri about eight years ago...it's like that blasted Ever Ready Bunny...it keeps going and going...and going...aaannndddd...... mad.gif
New stuff pops out every few days the last few months.....

And again FWW…..I understand this feeling also….along with pressure in my bladder, lower back, rectum and hips.

It feels a lot like that dreaded “last week before birth”…when the baby drops…and settles in to make it’s grand entrance into the world. Sitting is awful but can’t stand to be up on my feet for long wither…feels like everything is just going to “fall out” ohmy.gif

( and on your TMI’s…LOL…the “T.M.I.”s you shared are what kept me from flying to the ER to make sure I;m not dying of some kind of bladder/bowel cancer)
There’s a topic thread here about this type of discomfort…but for the life of me…I can’t find it now.

I’ll try doing the original google search that got me to the boards in the first place to see if I can locate it again!
In the mean time… your T.M.I. just saved my S.A.N.I.T.Y.!

Oh Maura, I have just gone through a stint of this myself, for about 2 weeks. Yes, my pelvis/uterus/vaginal area...feels very heavy! I have to sit very carefully, because otherwise it hurts. It feels swollen and tender in there.
This obviously has to do with some kind of hormonal change at that time ... because I've heard of this before, with other women.

I just make sure that everything I sit on is cushioned, or soft ..... I found that it helps if my husband gives me a nice lower back rub, that seems to sort of "loosen" it up in there,.... which leads me to believe it may be muscular, since our muscles are greatly affected by our hormones! So........... it's nothing serious, just hang in there the best you can, till it passes........ smile.gif

Thanks Ladies!

Just to be sure I will have my gyno check around to make sure my bladder is ok and my pelvic floor is too. Maybe if I spent less time on the couch and more time moving it would be better. smile.gif but of course the depression and fatigue keep me on the couch. I get so mad at myself for not being able to push myself to exercise and be more positive. <sigh>

And yes my lower back is very sore as well. I just wish I could throw it all to the wind and except that it's all hormonal.
On a positive note...I had a CT scan done with DYE and the news is all is good..no nasties found. Nothing abnormal the only thing they could see is my little ovarian cyst! rolleyes.gif thank goodness for that...big sigh of relief!

Hi Maura,

When you do get checked by a health care professional, make sure your internal exam is done standing up. Laying down has a tendency to "hide" a suspected prolapse as there is no gravity in play. I never was diagnosed with prolapses until I had the exam done while standing. Gravity brought down the "innards." Oh...do you feel better laying down or in the mornings?

I was diagnosed and when I sit, walk, stand correctly, I feel so much better. Back up against a wall and make sure your head, shoulders, behind and heels are touching the wall. That is the correct posture. Sit-ups are the worst thing you can do, should you have weak abdominal ligaments. Ligaments are normally stretched during childbirth and never really return to normal - like a rubber band. Check out the posture of a two-year-old; that is how we should be conducting ourselves daily.

There's another condition you can check into called Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. It's a random tensing of the muscles that hold up your uterus, bladder, colon, etc. I looked it up when I was having terrible painful lower abdominal spasms and the doctor said it was nothing. It can cause problems with urinating, constipation, the spasms I already mentioned, lower backache and other equally fun stuff. Definitely worth checking into.

Hi Sybill
Thanks for the advice. i will mention that to the gyno, in case he doesn't to me. Yes i do feel better lying down.
I just started yoga so I am starting to learn about proper posture.
I have never given birth, so maybe my ligaments are just lazy and weak like me!

Thanks for the advice.

I will keep that in mind. Hopefully the gyno will know about it.

Good luck Maura.
I have my fingers crossed for you. I know how rotten you feel.
This is the most miserable “flair” of the “meno-mess” I’ve had in ages.
I do hope your Dr can figure out what is up and get you some relief, soon!

webalina ........... yes, I get that as well! I've done a lot of research on that subject, because that's exactly the symptoms ........ it seems to really tense up down there, that "sling" muscle that sort of drapes down from one hip across the lower pelvis and up to the other hip ....... and boy, it can really ache!!!!! You honestly think there's something wrong in there, and it turns out to be muscular!!!!! geez! dry.gif But, with ALL our muscles being so overly affected by the hormonal swings, I'm not surprised at that pelvic floor muscles acting up, i mean,.....it's in "ground zero"..... dry.gif

Hi there, I too have had tremendous pelvic pain from exactly one hip bone to the other. I can't bend over without excruciating pain, and if I do I can't straighten up. I thought that this may be due to my uterus being retroverted, or all the swcar tissuer that i

to finish my reply.... I thought that from all the surgeries I have had in this pelvic area, that all the pain could be from the adhesions that I have. Have any of you other ladies had surgeries in the pelvic area, and perhaps our hormonal changes are affecting the scarred areas, with a lot of pain resulting?? I do have some large fibroids too, but my pain is right across the entire pelvis area. Does anyone know if this pain will ever go away, if it is hormonally related ??? Regards, Celica2
