I have been on Premarin 0.625 every day(8 years) and I add a Progestrine 5 mg the last 14 days of the month. I was was Premphase the first 4 years(same thing only u don't have to do the combining yourself) anyway I am now 54. I have just read a bunch of articles, listing WHY women who have their periods use the regimen I have been using for 8 years, and that once you hit 54, that you can choose to go on a COMBINED CONTINUOUS regimen(low dose EVERYDAY) so that your periods will go away. I am so done with having a period....this is just horrible, its not even the bleeding part, its all the *(&^ that comes with it...I am 54, I want it to end....at least by 55(LOL). What are some of the brand names for these combined continous HRT. The HRT doc I used to have years ago, told me if I take BOTH everyday I will not get a period...can I do this with a lower dose???? thanks for any advice.

I take the lowest doseage available of FemHrt...a continous pill that I take every day. Combined estrogen and progestrin. I have been on it over two years with no problems. I don't have periods, but had quit them anyway after having the Novasure ablation. It is nice to not have bleeding every month!

I just heard about Novasure yesterday. It sounds wonderful! Can you tell me more about it? Would I need a reason to have it done, other than being tired of bleeding for 7 days a month? Any side effects?

The regimen I am on now is Premarin 0625 everyday and progesterine 5mg the last 14 days of the month. Continous would be one pill everyday of the month. Can I cut the premarin in half??? The smaller doses of premarin are priced INSANE!!!!!!!!! I have no insurance & even at the Canadian pharmacy I use its still costly compared to the 625. I just want to try a lower dose, I'll know the 1st month if it doesn't work and my VA flares up.....my old OBGYN told me to do the contrinous years ago, so my periods would stop, and 54 I am now ready for NO MORE PERIODS!!! anyone ever cut the burgundy 625 premarin pill???? Thanks

Buffy,

There are many continous hrt/bhrt products that you could use. However, if you are tolerating the premarin and progestin I would suggest continuing with what your body is tolerating. Prempro is a combination of Premarin and progestin. Don't know what kind of progestin that you are currently taking. Name please??? And, yes the premarin tablets are scored and can be cut in half. If you want to save money tell your doctor. He can prescribe a higher dose and then you can cut in half (ending up with 2 months worth of drugs at a reduced cost.) Also, many times a doc can get you free samples too. Just let them know you have a need. Please, no embarassment...everyone asks for free samples. Again, what type of progestin are you taking? I'd like to help. Regards, JZZ

Can you tell me how long it took you to come off the hrt. I've been on continuous hrt for about 7 years and want to stop. About 3 months ago I started estalis which is a patch. Before that I was on pills. I've halved the dose as a 1st step but am wondering how quickly I can finish off. I really want to leave the hrt behind.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
