I wanted to know if anyone has had a problem with hair shedding/falling out and what brand birth control pill would be best to take in the perio. years (one that does not cause more hair to shed) ? Thanks.

Yes, I have a problem with hair shedding/falling out, and I must wear wigs to look acceptable.

I don't necessarily blame it on peri-meonpause and have always blamed it on PCOS. Possibly years of extremely low ferretin.

I did take the BCP Alesse for a couple years and stopped, immediately before the very heavy hair loss began, and I have heard Alesse called a very hair-unfriendly pill.

Dear 'cat-e'
Have used Tri-sequens for many years and have had no problem with shedding or falling out hair.
Sometimes a Thyroid problem can cause hair loss so it might be wise to have a check-up.
Good Luck

Hi Starmaiden,
PCOS is notorious for cause male pattern balding, it is the high level of insulin inhibiting ovulation and increasing androgens, male hormones, hence the hair loss. I am sorry for your condition, but PCOS is very responsive to low carb diet ( decreasing insulin level) and Glucophage, these duo does the best job.
I also believe BCP can causes problems with hair loss, I believe over time most of it not hair friendly.
I.
