Has anyone tried 5-HTP? I just read "The Triple Whammy Cure" by this doctor in Chicago, I absolutely love him, you can email him and he actually will answer back. His book is excellent and so simple to read and do in your real life. Anyways, he recommends 5-HTP for depression, weight gain, carb/salt cravings and insomnia - it's supposed to help all of that. So I started on his recommended dose yesterday. I am wondering if any of you have tried it, how long it takes to notice a difference and if it has helped you or didn't help you.

I am in Canada, I wish I was close to Chicago, this doctor is excellent.

Dr. David Edelberg, MD - The name of the book is The Triple Whammy Cure. Go to the website, it will give you all of the information and his office information. You can sign up for his newsletter as well. It is the best book I've read on this subject, and I've read all of them. I own this one, and have post it notes all over it! The website is www.thetriplewhammycure.com. Let me know what you decide to do.

Hi Lisa,

I have used 5 htp a few times when I felt I needed to knock my anxiety down fast and didn't want to take xanax or zoloft. I have to say that it does work faster than zoloft and has an added benefit of suppressing appetite. For me, it starts to work in as little as 2-3 days. Dr. Ray Sahalian also has some information out about 5 htp that I found useful. One caveat-it can cause drowsiness in some people.
