I just got the biospy results today from my colonoscopy and endoscopy. Good news! The polpy in my colon (now removed) was precancerous, so good thing it's gone! They just recommend another colonoscopy in 5 years. They said the biopsy from my stomach only showed acid reflux.
I am ever so grateful and again, appreciate everyone's support here. Thank you.
Still struggling with not feeling well again/still. I wonder if we ever will figure it out. I'm trying to just keep moving forward as best I can. Today was rough - but maybe tomorrow will be better.
I thank you all again, kathleent

((((((((kathleen)))))))))))) I'm so happy to her this. Are you in any pain? I wish doctors would check more frequently now that they found a precancerous polyp. I don't understand why they do it every 5 years.
Keep us posted.

It is my understanding that colon cancer is almost always a very very slow growing disease. So, it's highly unlikely that even if cancer were to start in the colon, it would be highly unlikely it would be found in an advanced stage even if it's been 5 years since your last scope. The critical thing is to get your colonoscopy done. Once it's done, even if they find pre-cancerous polyps, they remove them right there and you're "good to go" (so to speak) ... it's like "starting over" if you will. They also weigh the (slight) risk of the procedure when they make recommendations. It's not good to go "scoping around in there frequently" because there are some risks. The more procedures done (and the closer together they are done) the higher the risk.
My own mom was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer (no, she didn't get her colonoscopies done!) ... and she's now been cancer free for almost 2 years. They did a colonoscopy on her a few months ago (routine) and found 3 precancerous polyps, removed them and she's "good to go" for 3 years. That says a lot right there! That's how slow growing it is in the colon.
No one wants to have the procedure done ... but the procedure from my experiences has been fine - versed is a wonderful memory-loss drug! It's the prep that is not great fun! But .... it's vital we all do this to keep on top of our "colon's health".
Health to all, Kathleent
