I have been on progesterone cream 2x day for 21 days on and 7 off, testosterone drops daily, 30 mg thyroid, and did really well for almost 2 yrs then lots of symptoms returned...anxiety, hot flashes, waking in middle of night, so went back and now they have added daily estradiol (evamist, 1 spray), and now instructed to not cycle, just take daily doses everyday...still considered perimenopausal, i'm 56, and now after about 6 weeks of being on this here are my symptoms...still get hot flashes at night, still wake up for a couple of hours 2 - 4 nights a week, so bloated and my stomach looks huge, gained several pounds and cannot get them off...also still quite emotional at the drop of a hat! Anyone have any ideas what may be going on???? Oh and also...less than 2 weeks on this regimen, had a period for 6 days, nothing for 5 days, then another light period for another 6 days...then 5 days ago started spotting again, very lightly, and very dark. Need any help I can get....thank you soooo much in advance!

Hi Angelina,

I'll just share my experience with you. When I tried EvaMist, I wasn't getting any amount of estradiol at all. It was as though the mist was completely empty of any estradiol. Once I switched to Estrogel I did much better and when I went to Estrace (or the generic) I have done quite well.

I also use to do P daily, I was always lethargic, bloated and hungry. I now only cycle P in every 3rd month and only then for 6 -10 days. My tummy is flat and my appetite is non-existent. I also take T daily. I think that helps with my sex drive but little else. ..

I'm not a doctor and I can't suggest to you what to do but if it were me..... I'd stop the P until I felt better.

I have similar experience as Carol. I take Estrogel, which works wonders for me. I cannot stand the P, I will get tired and depressed from it, bloated and have weird dreams. I just hate using it and feel that it sets me back from all the good that I get from the E.

Remember that progesterone is the hormone you get during your PMS stage, right before your periods used to start, so if you are feeling bloated and weepy, it's probably too much P, perhaps stop the P and just adjust the E and see how you feel. Check with your doctor and see if that is okay.

I also experience lots of spotting while on P. Good luck.

Dear Angelina:
You need to cycle the progesterone, which means to use it on days 13 thru 26 of the cycle. The first day of bleeding is day # 1 of the cycle. You may also need to use 2 sprays of the Evamist to solve the anxiety, night sweats, waking up, and the hot flashes. Keep using the Evamist daily, and the testosterone daily and the thyroid daily and cycle the progesterone. Your weight will leave when you stop using the progesterone daily, and the other symptoms should dissapate once the levels get balanced and you cycle the progesterone. Hope this helps you, and please let me know if we can help you at all in the future. We do ship everywhere and accept hundreds of insurance plans.

I cycled my Prometrium 14 days a month and I gained 30lbs in one year on these bios. It is very hard to figure which imbalance may cause this. I've read Estrogen dominance causes weight gain, and I've read using progesterone every day causes weight gain. So which is it? Hard to say. I followed weight watchers too and I had lost 40lbs 2 years ago and maintained until I started taking the bios.
