Here goes. I am 51. Have not had my period for close to 2 yrs. My husband and I are not really, what you would call, sexually active. We are both OK with that. BUT, that's not my concern. Why would my clitoris suddenly be sore and a bit red for no reason at all? It's been a couple of days. I don't take any hormone replacements, but I am on Effexor. Is this a "hormone" thing?-Even being 2 yrs "post"

I'm wondering if it could be the start of a yeast infection. I would probably try an antifungal to see if that works.

Let us know what you find.

This almost sounds like a urine issue......like its causing a burning. I know this is blunt but do you use any sort of panty liners? If so and there is any discharge or urine leaking it literally sits on top of the liner.....that could be your problem.

Thanks for all your input. What a yucky thing to have. All a person has to do is sit there, and these strange things happen. What really, do men know??!!
I'll try the anti fungal 1st-nope, no panty liners-so, guess i'll experiment.

It could also be low estrogen which can cause vaginal and clitoral atrophy and consequently soreness in that area.
If none of these things above fix it the next step would be to ask your doctor for some weak estriol cream to dab on the area.
Hope it is fixed soon.
