CML
Hey ladies,

I have some questions & this is my first post. I am 39 years old & I have been on birth control for many years, not only for the purpose of not getting pregnant but also becasue I had terrible cramps. I have noticed that in the last 2 or 3 months that about 1 week before my period I start having flu like symptoms. Yesterday at work my face got go hot & my eyeballs felt hot & dry too. I really had no other symptoms until I got home & then I got a headache & was very dizzy & had to lay down. I tired to sleep but I could not sleep due to constatnt tossing & turning from being very hot then very cold. I just thought it was the flu but then I remembered that this happened last month. So I am wondering if it is horomone related & if there is anything I can take for it? Oh I forgot about having a very very upset stomach too.

the bcp is contraindicated for women over 35, mainly due to blood clotting issues.

it could also be that you have developed an allergy to progesterone. it can happen I have seen it up close and it's not pretty.

or an allergy to estrogen or some other substance you are taking.

sounds like hormones to me !!!

It does sound hormonal, and it could be that the BCPs you are using are not right for your current hormonal state. BCPs are often prescribed to help with peri symptoms, but you do have to pay attention to what hormones are in the pills and how you feel on them. If you journal your symptoms, you might be able to figure out which hormone is giving you the problem and you could switch BCPs with a lower dose of whichever hormone is giving you grief.

It is probably not a bad idea to add a once a day low dose aspirin to help prevent the potential blood clot issue with BCPs. I do it myself, as I am a BHRT user.
