Ah Shirlann - I have a 14 yr old son too. They are in a stage of their lives when they don't really consider their impact on others I think. My son was also on the go slow last year, taking ages to be ready in the mornings. He walks to school with his friend as it is close by but even his poor friend was having to wait ages for him & was getting fed up. In the end I banned TV before school as he would let his friend in then take about 10 mins putting on his shoes in front of the TV. LOL

I'd tell your son that he obviously needs longer to get ready & that you'll be setting his alarm so he has to get up 10 minutes earlier. Teens like their lie-ins! LOL

It's really helped me to look on his teenage-ness as "pushing" in the same way that terrible twos do. Except they push really hard as teens. Everything is an argument - they know best! LOL I suppose they are just trying to be acknowledged as adults and gain some say in their lives but they also have to learn life still has rules, even as adults. My son will answer me back in ways he would never dare speak to his teacher - he still hasn't grasped that. At least once a day i have to remind him he is NOT to speak to me like that (sigh). Well I'm told it gets better....

Teens will be teens rolleyes.gif My daughter is exactly the same...While I'm on fast forward, she is on slow motion, pause or even reverse lol -- Hormones are responsible for a lot of their behaviour at this age...... cool.gif My daughters school is 3 miles away so she needs to be out in time to catch the school bus...... sometimes she will miss it and then I have to take her to school which is okay with me since the drive to school is pretty and very quiet.... On the other hand, I might not be so tolerant if I was stuck in a trafiic jam and the person behind me was honking his horn, so I do sympathise with you! Maybe you can take a quiter route?

As Squigs rightly pointed out, teens do like there lie ins but they also like going to bed late! I'm sure any parent of teenage children have noticed this... the late-to-bed and late-to-rise pattern is the way teenagers are biologically programmed -- Hormones have a lot to answer for! tongue.gif

Shirlann - I dont think your son deliberately winds you up so try not to take his behaviour personally -- I'm sure we will miss their little quirks when they leave home, so enjoy every minute while you can biggrin.gif

Teenagers are a uniquely human phenomenon
