has anyone tried D-Mannose for a bladder infection or UTI?

I felt like I had a bladder infection coming on today and went to my ND who did the dip stick test and found some bacteria. She gave me D-Mannose. It's a simple sugar (that does not effect your sugar levels) that makes it's way through the kidney to the bladder. Apparently bacteria like it and attach themselves to the molecules and then you eliminate the sugar and the bacteria through urination! WOW...I am really hoping this works! Anyone have any experience with this stuff?
If this works it's amazing..can you imagine..no more antibiotics for us who get BIs more than once a year??

Yes! I used D-Mannose last year and it worked very well - I searched this board and pm's a member here who helped me out - it may have been Sariah but my meno brain is not sure and I did not save my messages! Do a search here and see what you find. I used in 3 times per day and after the second day I had no more symptoms - get the powdered kind in the jar (not the pills) and use up the whole jar - even the gals in the health food store told me they live by this!

Yep, I used the D-Mannose last year when I had a UTI and it did work. It took a while though, probably becasue I wasn't using enough of it. Also, I used the pills and would have probably done better with the powder form. It did work, though.

Yes, yes, yes! D-Mannose is one of the few "natural" things that really works. They use it all of the time for expensive race-horses, instead of spending $1,000.00+ a day for antibioctics.

Because the e-coli/bacteria attaches on the d-mannonse, it is eliminated with your urine. It does not cause any die-off reaction.

It is good stuff!
