Has anyone had a lymph node swell up under their ear and be painful before? I don't have any other symptoms at all. Started this morning and is swollen and painful when I eat. Just under my ear towards my jawline. Weird. Wonder if it could be a side effect of my flu shot from a few days ago?

yes twice ... I think the first time was because I had my teeth cleaned .. not sure what caused it the second time .. I just took a bag of ice to it and the swelling was gone within 24 - 48 hrs.

Might be worth a trip to the dentist if you still have it in a bit. I have had tooth absesses that have caused pain and swelling...

Yep, I got it once, it was weird, I went to my dentist, he said, it can be anything and everything, and went away on its own, next day but I freaked out anyways, LOL.
Best,

Hi there,

Yes I have also had that happen......I woke up with it. My fiance laughed at me biggrin.gif , then took me to the doc. My doc said it was probably a blocked salivary gland and it went away on its own. I did take one ibuprofen anti-inflammatory for the pain. If you don't have any other symptoms it is unlikely to be mumps.

Take care babe.......if you are worried, get it seen to....

Same here -- had a swollen node under my ear, and was told it would go away on its own, and it did.

It's quite likely the result of a localized infection or inflammation. Anytime there is an infection/inflammation in a particular area, the lymph nodes nearest that area will swell up. sometimes we can't even feel it if it's mild but other times they can get quite hard and painful. Unless they get this way and stay for several days without improvement, it really isn't anything to worry about in the absence of other symptoms. (ie. fever, rash, reddened/inflammed area of skin, swollen gums, etc.)

I've had this, too...my doctor at the time said it was a common side effect of having pierced ears. All I know is that this was many years ago and I am still alive!

Hi - oh yeah I get this alot. When I wear certain ear-rings that are not gold or pure silver...it's a good thing - it means your lymph nodes are doing their job...or so I have been told. I am pretty sure that it will just go away in a few days...try to relax.
