My period ended on 9/24, now I"m getting cramping in my lower tummy. It seems like it may be IBS, but I can't seem to tell the difference anymore. Yikes.

Full Version: Cramping between periods...Or, is it IBS again?
Am I the only one who can't seem to distinguish between menstrual type cramping and the lower cramping from IBS??? Sheesh.

Apparently, I'm the only one with a balky colon on here....

Sorry you haven't had any replies, we are on a different time zone here and I have only just seen your post!
I too get mid-cycle type crampy type IBS/ovulation pain. I can never distinguish which one it is. Mine starts from about day 12 (which i suppose could indicate ovulation pain) lasts until about day 17 then I carry on getting a horrible more painful type lower left-sided horrible ibs type pain, which then lasts until my period - oh the joys!
Sorry I can't be of much help but at least you know you are not alone with your painful stomach
Sometimes peppermint tea helps to soothe the pain other times I just eat the bare minimum for a couple of days which eases it a little.

I get this too! In fact, I have it right now.
Is it IBS? Is it cramping? I have NO clue. How's that for body awareness?

OH Bookworm.......OH YES ..... in fact, i'm dealing with this right now! I've been posting about this for a few days now .... this is horrible..... your post is about the closest I've seen to what I am experiencing too .... I became very bloated about two weeks ago, but I thought that was the usual build up I end up getting about 2 wks. before my period...which is DUE NOW....but, about 6 days ago or so... it seemed like the bloating was horrendous, and I also noticed this "spare tire" thingy had developed around my abdomen and up to each hip ... but then.....about 6 days ago, i started with this sort of stabbing, shooting, maybe even "crampy " pain in and around the left ovary area ..... THEN..lol....this IBS darn thing started...it feels "raw" and "sore " in there, (down in the left lower abdomen) and i know i have trapped gas in there, bec. there are times i can feel it move or shift, and then, I end up either burping,..or well......"passing wind"...lol ... now, sometimes that helps that feeling in there, other times not ........ the shooting stabbing pains were going down my leg, but that has stopped, now, my left leg is just sort of achey....not badly, but it's there. The lower part of my back is stiff as heck, and it kind of aches ....... oh, and to add to all this.......I'm constipated!
So.......I know what you mean.........it's been hard for me too, to tell what pain is what! I can't seem to tell the difference between the IBS stuff, or the ovary stuff, if indeed it even IS ovary pains...it could just be the colon.........darn.......this is awful! How is it now? do you still have this?

yeah, i forgot to mention, maybe it 's ovulation........because just yesterday, I noticed that yellowish clear sort of discharge when you're ovulating.........and I couldn't believe it...i mean, i'm supposed to be getting my period now!!!! Maybe i'm actually ovulating NOW...so that could be the whole thing..........could that be the same for you? Or are you actually having your period right now?
