Hi all my dear supportive gal pals.

I am 52, and I just celebrated my one year without-a-period yesterday!!!!

I don't THINK im imagining it, but the 'fog has lifted'

The past five years has been HELL, emotionally........................absolute hell............................

As many of you know already, i've been on paxil and xanax at night for almost 20 years, and those i will
continue on, but I truly believe that once our bodies STOP producing hormones, that it is for a REASON,
and that trying to re-introduce them back in just messes us up BIG TIME....................

Whats that saying "It's not nice to fool mother nature" (you girls remember that margarine commercial???? LOL LOL)

Anyway, I was a walking mental nightmare, exhausted all the time, and I swear I have my energy back!

Are any of you familiar with Dr. Northrup, the female Gyn? She has out some wonderful books, and recently I've seen her on t.v.
doing seminars, and she said something soooooooooo encouraging.........that once Meno is over, our FSH levels go way back up
to when we were young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe that's what's happening to me, I'm not going to do blood panels, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW...........................
I'm just going to eat as healthy as I can, take some supplements, (not go crazy) she mentioned Vitamin D and Magnesium,
and get regular exercise.
Anyway, there is LIGHT at the end of the tunnel ladies, and believe me, i've been through the ringer emotionally to prove it!!! : )

I still have hot flashes, but I can deal with them. My biggest problems were the depression and exhaustion........and fatigue.........
couldn't even fold the towels hardly.............................................now I feel so much more energy. I'm absolutely elated.
I'll keep you girls posted!

Love hearing the positives about meno! Thanks for sharing the good news.

If it weren't for palps and climbing blood pressure I would feel better than before. They still scare me!

My dear Friend
Well done and congratulations on feeling so much better!
I too take a small dose of Prozac every day and a Xanax as needed. They do help.
The only area where I have to disagree with you is the use of Hormones.Post Menopausal at 39 I think HRT saved my physical and mental health.
I am now 58 and cannot believe that almost twenty years of not producing Hormones is right,As I mentioned,in a previous post,I did give a years good Trial of slowly weaning of them but it was disastrous so will continue with HRT until they are prised out of my rigid hand when I pass on
This is my own personal experience and am very happy for all the ladies who do not use them and come out very well at the other end.I would be more interested in Bios. but they are not available in my country.

Anyway,my love,I wish you lots of continued health in the years to come
God Bless

Hi Elizabeth
I do agree with you about the hormones. It is always good to hear that someone is feeling well but I had no quality of life without the hormones and could barely walk for pain. Two of my aunts were in wheelchairs thanks to menopause. I think menopause is just an enginering flaw and I would rather avoid it.

Have just come on this board and read through a lot of posts, looking desperately to see in this dreadful insomnia will end!

I know the need for encouraging posts so heres mine.

I am now 4 years post menopause and my moods are better than they have been in years. I actually just feel happy sometimes for no reason whatsoever, whereas before, I would wake each morning feeling depressed.

I rarely flare up over anything now, dont get any of the rages any more.

Now, can someone just help me with this dreadful insomnia??

Christine
