Hi everyone, been a long time since I've been on the boards. I went into meno about 2-1/2 years ago (I'm now 52) with no earthshattering symptoms until of late. I'm more tired of late and of course my sleep is always interrupted. I have had some pretty severe hot flashes lately...one just the other day. I was eating dinner and it felt like a fog of heat started coursing up the back of my neck over the top of my head and my face turned beet red. It felt weird. My heart started palpitating and deep breaths didn't seem to help much. Now lately I'm having a burning pressure in the center of my chest. It feels hot. I also don't always feel like I'm all here if you know what I mean. Like I'm Captain Space Cadet. I'm not so overly concerned with my issues except the burning in my chest. I've never really had heartburn or acid reflux (although I have experienced it a time or two and its not pleasant). Is this a common occurrence in menopause? huh.gif

Hi there, I don't know about menopause, but I had the most awful heartburn during pregnancy and ever since a miscarriage in the spring my hormones have been crazy and my heartburn/GERD problems have been back off and on. I think there is a definitely a hormonal component. Hope you get some relief.

Hi there, just wanted to add that I too have had the burning in the chest, infact, when I got it, it came up from my hands through my arms and then down through my chest and stomach, and then it was gone. It was like a wave of heat. It has happened twice in the past 3 years, which is when all my weird symptoms and changes in my body started happening. I instantly called my doctor at home, and told him what happened, and at the time of the call I was in a total anxiety attack from what happened. He explaned to me that it was just part of perimenopause and anxiety disorder. Hopes this helps. Take care.

Hi....I had never before experienced heartburn like I experienced when I wrote about the burning in my chest. It was horrible and scary. But I had noticed it had started when I started drinking a non name brand tea. I normally drank Red Rose or Lipton and then opted for a generic brand from Aldi since it was cheaper. Huge mistake. I stopped drinking the tea and the heartburn went away.
