i am taking remeron, 60 mg. it makes me sleep, it takes the edge off the anxiety and my my concentration is ok. however, i dont feel much of mood lift nor much optimist. also i have gained weight because my hunger has increased. would you try another antidepressant that may have other side effects but at least makes you feel hopeful and improves you mood. can you tell me what you would do. i am confused and feel stuck in this decision. thank you

I take prozac. I'm not doing cartwheels or swinging from the chandelier but it does give me alittle boost. If I didnt take it during the winter months I wouldnt be able to get out of bed. I havent had any side effects from it at all.

I been taking zoloft 50 mg now for almost two years and i feel so much better. It did give me a bigger appetite which i gained from sad.gif I don't know if there is any AD out there that you don't gain weight on, But anyways i will take a little bit of weight on me over the depression and anxiety.I have noticed at times i don't cry when i should which is mild. But other then that all is good. Also i am not taking my xanax as much which is a good thing. smile.gif Hugs Terry

I started with Prozac and it did help with the depression and moods. As time went on though, the side affect of low sex drive hit and I really begin to dislike that since peri had not caused a nose dive in that yet. Although it has a tendency to cause weight gain I did feel better enough to start my walking again and was able to keep most of the weight off. (however, I am still quite overweight!! rolleyes.gif )
I switched over to Wellbutrin back in the spring, it doesn't have the 'same' effect on me as the Prozac, but my depression for the most part is still under control. I still have low times, but want to try to get past those without having to add the Prozac back into the mix.
I've been told sometimes you just have to keep working at it till you find the right AD that suits you.

How long have you been taking the remeron?

I've been taking Lexapro for about 7-8 weeks, I just upped my dosage from 20mg to 30mg. Like you it helped with the anxiety and depression. But, I am definitely not jumping over the moon. The anxiety which is mainly health anxiety and obsession started up again, so I decided (Dr. recommended a few weeks ago but I chose to wait) to up the dose to 30mg. No major side effects to speak of except a little hungrier, but, I didn't gain any weight from this AD since I started it. I need a little more boost in my mood, I just feel really unmotivated. Not happy not sad --- sort of just here, just glad if I can keep my mind quiet and from over thinking everything. I hate the health anxiety so much that if it helps with that I guess I'm afraid to try something else and then that not work and try to go back to Lexapro and it won't work. I hope this increase will do some good. Good luck to you, I hope you start feeling better. Take care, Mich

I take zoloft 25 mg. and find that it helps lift some of the anxiety that causes me trouble sleeping. It has not caused me to gain any weight but does have sexual side effects. I have discussed this with my doctor and was told it was ok to stop taking it on the weekends occasionally, so that I can get some joy back into my sex life. It does the trick, but can cause me to get a headache for the first day off. I wouldnt advised doing this if someone is on more than 25 mg. as it wouldn't be pleasant.

I am on 50 mg of zoloft and have been for a long time (10 years). It does help.
