Hi ladies....forgive my absence I have had a busy few weeks.
I was doing wonderfully the past couple of months and then wham......I feel like I have been hit by a bus! I keep dozing off.....even at a friends the other night....watching a movie and I fell asleep sitting upright! What the heck?? Yesterday I needed two naps....I literally could not keep my eyes open......people were at the door, doorbell, buzzer, phone and I heard not a thing?? Very unlike me. Despite how much I am sleeping I do not seem to be alert at all. What the heck is going on now? I almost ran to the doctors figuring I must be in kidney failure or something....I know I know....lol. Anyone else find this happens? It is really starting to bother me now. I have an event tonite and literally just want to stay home even though I cannot......just want to lie down and sleep for days. Grrrrr. Tell me I am not alone here.

In my late 30 and into 40's I could sleep a whole weekend away easily. Now a nap sounds so fabulous, but, they come few and far between. I have to take a xanax to fall asleep at night usually around 12:00am, I wake up to use the bathroom 1-2 times a night, but, usually am able to fall back to sleep and I sleep until about 9:00 am. But, I know feeling fatigued is not as lovely as I think it sounds to you ladies.

Try not to get too concerned about this. It was my response to dropping oestrogen which I think in turn caused my thyroid all sorts of grief. I did not have thyroid disease but it jolly well felt like it. Take a look at hypothyroidism symptoms and you will immediately think......YES! That is just like me! I could usually manage until I sat down and then I would drop off to sleep alarmingly quickly. I even diagnosed myself with narcolepsy at one stage. Lol! You know how it is girls...........he he he.....
I used to sink down in to such deep sleep that I think that I would have been oblivious to a fire alarm. sleep.gif Oh, and then trying to wake up was a real challenge. Talk about waking the dead................................ and one more piece of advice don't look in the mirror when you have just woken from one of these naps.......................not a pretty site! blink.gif

Wow, I'm so glad you posted this! Recently, I took a hypothyroid self test on the internet and had a score of 53%. (with a recommendation that I see a doctor) I noticed that most of the symptoms are the same for perimenopause. Also took a diabetes self test because after eating lunch, I go into a food coma, and if I lay down, I fall asleep for about an hour. Now with it getting dark at 7:30pm, I have to force myself to stay up until 9:00. So, I'm hoping that it's all due to a drop in estrogen! All is such a mystery. huh.gif
Thanks, XIII!

Medium...

Add to it, the now darkening skies of fall and my "curl up in a ball and sleep" response really kicks up....I get sooooo bummed when I look outside at pitch dark and look at the clock and it's 8 pm....geeshhhh....I'd be out on one of my daily jaunts around the woods at that time in the summer.... sad.gif

Now, I just want to cuddle up and sleep....

The autumn clouds are forming over my psyche...... blink.gif

TidalWaves
I am sleepy ALL THE TIME!!!

No motivation to do anything at all!

If I do get any motivation whatsoever, it's in little, tiny spurts. I do what little I can and then I am totally tuckered out!

I have been on high doses of iron supplements for almost 4 months. Have seen SOME improvement, but not enough.

What do I do??

Just spent $60. on Acai Berry supplements. You think that helped??

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Not one bit!!

Hi Ladies:

Tidalwaves -- last winter I had my first experience of prolonged time w/o periods (exactly 3 mos). However, during that time had "phantom periods" -- I did the exact thing you are describing, just dozing off! I blush to say I spent 80 dollars on symphony tickets & kept falling asleep thru the performance. My H even asked me if I was getting the flu!

I also have queried info about hypothyroid, tho just did have testing done, even special testing done & all neg. But I still look at symptoms & wonder....but I also can recover my energy if I don't just sit around. It seems if I get blood flowing, I am feeling nearly normal. I put in a topic called "pseudo fatigue" that describes my experience more fully...

This board has helped tremendously... I feel better knowing I am not suffering from serious illness...truly I would rather be tired & get some sleep than have insomnia. But my fatigue is not debilitating, merely vexing....hope you feel better soon....WV

Yes, WV, it seems to be a very common occurance during this time of our lives! Does it EVER end??? I see so many older ladies out running around like there is no tomorrow! NOT ME!!! Must be from my interrupted sleep at night. I'm a night person anyway, but I cannot go without sleep like in my younger days! I must be trying to make up for all the lost sleep. Who knows!!!
