I have been reading that the spice turmeric can help inflammation especially joint pain and stiffness. Has anyone tried this? I wonder if it would make me start my periods again? I sure do not want to do that! I am so sensitive to everything I put in my mouth I am hesitant to try it unless I can read some reviews on it. I would love to stop this joint pain. My hot flashes and night sweats have let up but have been replaced with this most horrible joint pain all over my body from head to toe. At least the dr/dp is better. Why can't we be completely symptom free? I guess I should just be grateful that I don't have them all at the same time.

Thanks, ladies, for any and all replies.

In my house, we cook with turmeric a lot when making curries. If you don't eat curries, try adding a bit of curry to your rice; it will turn it a lovely shade of yellow and give a bit of flavor to it. I'm not sure whether it helps with joint pain because I have that only sporadically and usually because I've overused the joint. I can't say turmeric cured anything, because I'm probably not susceptible to joint pain, but it certainly didn't hurt me at all, and I have also read where it's good for prostate health, so serving it up to hubby would be a good idea too.

Turmeric may seem exotic, but it's in various foods we commonly eat, like yellow mustard (don't worry -- it's the mustard seed that makes mustard taste like mustard, so you won't end up with mustard flavored rice lol). If you are going to buy it, try to go to an international grocery where they sell big giant bags of it for a few dollars, as opposed to grocery stores where they sell tiny little bottles for a lot of dollars.

Hi mood_swinger
Due to Ehlers Danlos I'm very prone to joint pains. I haven't tried tumeric but find the following things helpful - a cold bath with lavender oil followed by a brisk towel rubbing. You have to be brave and get in quickly laugh.gif I also use something called Tiger Balm which I rub over the affected areas. I also visit an oesteopath who massages any strained areas. Lack of oestrogen has an appalling effect on joints and ligaments.
