I have had an overactive bladder for years. I take oxybutnin 10 mg. daily at bedtime. I have a VERY small bladder to begin with and was born with only one kidney (NOT good for a diabetic!). So premedication I would pee up to 20 times a day. Now I pee maybe 7 or 8 in 24 hours. Ok it's a bit much but now the fun part. I KNOW it's a hormonal thing but suddenly about 6 mo ago I can not sneeze, blow my nose or even grunt without urine wanting to "squirt". Ideas? I am not ready for diapers and can not wear pads due to allergies and I am running out of underwear!!! I can't do Kegals because of a muscle disorder (makes it much worse) and WON'T have my bladder "stretched". I'm not making this easy am I? I'm just curious if anyone has found anything nonsurgical that works. It seems like I am suddenly spending my life in the can!

I know bladders are very sensitive to dropping estrogen...anyone out there know if estrogen cream might help with this?
I don't have this problem--yet

but I have found vaginal estrogen cream helpful in calming down my "irritable" bladder....

I THINK THERE IS SOME KINDA OF SURGERY FOR THAT BUT NO GURANTEES IF IT WOULD WORK. YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK YOUR DR. ABOUT IT. AND I CAN RELATE TO WHAT YOUR GOING THROUGH.I CAN'T SNEEZE, COUGH, VOMIT WITHOUT PEEING ALL OVER IT IS GETTING OLD!!!!

Estrogen has helped my bladder a lot, but another non-surgical approach is to try giving up coffee for 2 weeks to see if that helps. I have been off for 9 days now, and it has made a huge difference. It is REALLY HARD to give up, but if it helps it is worth it.
Good luck!

I had this problem and got a little relief with estriol cream. But until I bit the bullet and started on Bio Identicals it wouldn't go. I have Ehlers Danlos so a surgical procedure was unlikely to be successful and kegel had little success. I have heard of a procedure that strengthens the neck of the bladder with fillers.
