Has anyone ever had a bad sore throat after surgery from the tube in your throat from the anesthesia? I had a hysteroscopy and D&C yesterday. I had a endometrial polyp removed. The surgery went fine, but when I returned to the recovery room and woke up from the anesthesia, I had a horrible sore throat. I had drainage and scratchy throat. I thought how in the world did I get a sinus infection so quick from the time I went in to surgery and out? That is what it felt like. The nurse told me it was most likely from the tube in my throat during surgery. It still hurts today! I have been drinking tea with honey and lemon and taking throat lozenges. I don't have a fever or chills.....just a sore throat and some hoarseness. Has anyone else ever had this? Is this normal after surgery? I'm calling the doctor tomorrow if it isn't better.
Yes! It's quite common. Sounds like you had an impatient anesthesiologist. My girlfriend had shoulder surgery last week, and her sore throat is just now feeling better. (((kat))) hang in there. Keep with the lonzenges and whatever you do, don't scream!!
