Has anyone ever had a urine test come back showing high levels of protein? It's not me, but I'm asking for my younger brother. He had to have a kidney ultrasound this afternoon and is worried about the beginnings of possible kidney failure. He is borderline diabetic. Otherwise, he feels fine and is healthy at the age of 53. Any advice or suggestions I could pass along to him?
Thanks

well your kidneys filters waste and keeps good proteins in your body , if you are losing them in urine it means your kidneys are not keeping the needed proteins in your body and yes if your a diabedic its not a good sign as it means your kidneys are not working like they should, but medicine today is well advanced and there are many options for this , do not fret......

I HAD SHOWED PROTEIN AND RED BLOOD CELLS IN MY URINE SINCE I WAS PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST CHILD. I HAD ULTRASOUNDS DONE I EVEN HAD A KIDNEY BIOSPY IT ENDED UP BEING SOMETHING MINOR CALLED NEPHROTIC SYNDROME WHICH WAS SO MILD THEY DIDN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MIGHT WANT TO HAVE THEM GIVE MORE TEST TO HIM BEST OF LUCK TERRY

Thanks for the replys, ladies. I did some research on the net this morning and realized that he MAY have the beginnings of diabetic kidney disease. He won't get the results of the ultrasound till next Wed. or Thurs. so we'll just have to wait and see. I'm praying it's not that serious and whatever is wrong, can be reversed.
