I was in the staff room at work today talking and then all of a sudden i got really hot within about ten seconds my face went red and then my face began to perspire. The older lady i was talking to noticed and said oh yes i had those.....but i then left the room and went back to work but my body was left shaking vibrating like i was plugged into the electricity socket.THis lasted for an hour or so.I then went into a garage and it was freezing in there and i was too cold.i told the lady i had had a hot flush before and she was 60 ish and said that was common to feel cold afterwards. She also said she was 42 when she started and im almost 42 i told her my doctor didnt believe me and said it was just anxiety cos i was too young and she said to get another one.Wise lady.Sh really made me feel normal.especially as my gran and mum started at 37..The vibrating though was so powerful do you ladies get this afterwards.this wasnt just anxiety i know it....

The vibrating thing is very common. I think that the thyroid gland and adrenals go nuts at this stage.
I once cut a hedge in my garden and ended up shaking so much that I spilled my tea. It was really surreal. I agree that you should not blame anxiety. It is probably a surge of thyroxine.
In some women hot flashes are massive events, it is a myth that they are insignificant. When mine were at their worst I nearly blacked out, on several occasions. I was afraid to venture out alone.

The good news is that they do get better but you have to learn to live with them for a bit whilst your body is making adjustments. I had a fan in every room and several hand bag fans. My family all knew exactly what was going on and really made efforts to help me. The AC in the car was fantastic.
You will find that your body looses its ability to control your temperature. If you get in an environment that is just a little too warm you will get a flash. A sudden shock like the phone ringing or something that gives you a sudden fright may start you off. All very normal.
Don't waste anymore of your life worrying about it. It will pass, honestly!

cheers X111 hat was such a great reply just what i needed to hear.I could hardly think when it came at work it was as iff my mind went somewhere else. You are right with the body temperature ive always been a coldish person but now im either realy hot or really chiled never a balance. Thanks for the advice and help.
little lil
I usually get the trembling and butterflies before the Flash but I have also gotten them afterwards try to breath through it, it helps sometimes. It,s quite normal that women can feel anxiety, tingling, pressure in their head, uncomfortable feeling to your stomach with pounding heart prior to a hot flash. Hang in there.

Dear 'Laxgirl'
You are perfectly normal but yes you are having a hot flush and no you are not too young.Honestly these Doctors are so silly.I was fully Post Menopausal at 39 but had suffered years before that with flashing, flushing, anxiety and insomnia.
My first thought was Psychiatrist so went and was put on Prozac and Xanax. Both helped but the mystery was fully cleared up by my Gyno. at annual check up when he said it was Premature Ovarian Failure.
I started HRT and the results were great.
This is just me though and a lot of ladies prefer the Bio-identicals or BCP or use natural supplements.
The best thing is to get a full check up and don't forget to have Thyroid checked too. This gland loves to get mixed in with Hormonal Fluctuations!
Stay calm and know you are not alone
You have come to an awesome site full of ladies who are sharing your symptoms and ready to share great information etc.

All the best
