For the past few weeks or so I have had pain in my left leg. It is mostly in the calf area and below and it was hurting so bad that I went to the ER last week and they did an ultra sound and said it was not a blood clot but they really did not know what it was that was causing it to hurt.

So it is still hurting so what could it be and what type of doctor do I need to go see to find out what is causing it. I am very sedentary and know I need to get some exercise but right now my leg hurts I am not sure I can do that right now.

I have had twitches and tingling for almost a year some numbness in both legs and arms so someone tell me what is going on and where I need to turn to see what needs to be done.

Could I have Vitamin and mineral defecency? I need some input ...

Hi timeless,
I don't know what it is but I'm glad they've ruled out a blood clot. An Internal Medicine Dr. would be fine to see regarding this issue. If he/she can't figure it out with a few basic tests you can be referred to a specialist. I'm betting on the Int. Med. Dr. figuring it out. Some questions to ask yourself...
Is your leg swollen more than the other one? Have had any injury or accident where you might have injured your leg without realizing it? Is the pain "deep"? Meaning, down in the muscle rather than on the surface. Does it decrease with movement or elevation? Do you have a hx. of diabetes? If so, you may be developing some peripheral vascular issues which are common in those with that disease. You say you are sedentary...does this mean you spend a lot of time sitting with your legs dependent (hanging down) rather than with them up? You needn't answer these questions on PS, just write down the answers so when your Dr. asks you these questions you'll have a ready answer. I wish you luck in finding an answer to your pain. It's hard when we don't know what the problem is and worse not knowing where to turn.
hugs,

Glad you got checked out. I had upper leg pain earlier this year and it lasted for weeks. I have no clue what it was or why I had it. It finally went away.

Try visiting a chiropractor and see what they say.

One other thing to add...

If you need to exercise, swimming ticks all the boxes. It tones, it is good for cardio, and it is easy if you have pain because you're not weight-bearing.

Potassium and magnesium defeciencies both can cause leg cramps.I have had the lower leg cramps, they would come and go usually around my period.I am glad you did not have a clot, that is a blessing. Also walking for 35 or more minutes every day is great for the legs-just make sure you have a good pair of shoes.GOD-bless

Drink a glass of milk and take 2-3 calcium, mag., vit. D. Get a magnesium supplement in liquid form. TAKE when this happens. It will stop very quickly. On the go, I'll try to post more later....

do you have any back problems ?
lizardlover42000
i had those same pains for over a year now i had a mri, a xray nothing only find some edema and swelling i got to the point i give up i just live with it. like right now it is hurting again cause i fell a couple days ago and stretch it out. Do you have swelling in back of knee or a lump? i would see a orthopedist if it keeps up to rule out a cyst or other problems what they did tell me it was probably arthritis. good luck. Terry
