Hello

Has anyone else had the experience of estrogen increasing their anxiety?
I am at day 29 of my cycle and feel like I am on speed. I have reduced my dosage but.....
is it to late to try an over the counter progesterone??? at this point in the cycle? And I don't want to make this anxiety/edginess worse, but I cannot function very well with my heart racing.
Currently I am on .0375 vivelle patch afraid to reduce any further in case of migraine.
Ahhhhh... hormones...... I wish I understood this all better.

Thanks for any input! mellow.gif

Yes- I am unable to take estrogen at all. It makes me feel so anxious, I feel like you do- that I am on speed.
I have tried the very lowest dose patch, cut it up, cut it again until it was miniscule but I still felt like jumping off a bridge.
I am unable to even tolerate the vaginal estrogens apart from a little Premarin-but that has the opposite effect. It makes me feel depressed.
I understand that in some women estrogen pushes up the noradrenaline in the brain past what is comfortable and this is what causes the anxiety.
I tried adding over the counter progestrone but then I felt even worse.
I know there are a few ladies here who do well with progestrone though.
Hopefully they will be along to give you some advice

Are you still in Peri? Need more info before I can advise further. However, the type, mode of delivery, and dosage can greatly affect how you feel on hormones. I would not add P into the mix until getting the E correct. Please advise on if in Peri? Regards, JZZ

Got second opinion from dr who said it sounds like estrogen is not helping me.
it does help with my dry eyes and I feel more alert but my breasts are really tender and overall feel edgy. She wants me to try a compounded progesterone cream from day 12-24. I can keep taking the patch with it. Now this will go against my other dr who does not like to use any progesterone,....I think it may be worth the try though.

How good of a bioidentical is vivelle dot? Anyone like compounded cream better then the patch? I have heard 2 different opinions on this as wel some feel the patch helps you control the dosage more, others the cream. Patch because you can remove it, cream because yo can change it daily. Anyone have n opinion on this?

Oh my edginess to still here, if not better tomorrow maybe I'll cut back the .25

thanks for the input?

Because of migraines and all of the other meno symptoms, I do continuous BHRT....I do not cycle. I take E & P every day. (and I also take testosterone.)

When do your migraines appear? Is there a pattern?

Since I started (Jan.?), I have not had one migraine. I am in peri. Still having periods and ovulating sometimes.

My doc often gives extra E. if you are having migraines.

I just read that if you have "AURA migraines (fuzzy vision, spots, dizziness etc) like I get, then your estrogen is prob too high, while normal migraines means you
dont have enough? i thought that was interesting?

Thank you for your replies!!

I am beside myself today, I woke up with tight stomach, migraine and massive anxiety. I changed my patch last night. I am only taking .025 and on day 8 of my cycle. This happened last month. I feel worse after period and before ovulation.......I also had really bad anxiety day before period.

I need to find a practitioner I trust. I feel like I've already spent so much money on all of this and am still not with the right person. AGGGGG

I have bought some OTC progesterone and estrogen cream. I am thinking of reducing the patch and trying them.....

I just don't know if I need more estrogen or less.....I feel very cold as well, and tingly......

Busy day at work and am just trying to get threw....

I need a new OBGYN.
thanks for letting me know estrogen makes you feel wonky.....

I have a feeling the reason I am so wacked out after my period and around ovulation it that my estrogen is increasing. Because even though I may feel irritable around day 21, I feel better then this!
