Hi I,ve been Post 3 yrs now still suffering with anxiety, hot flash,s ,shakes, not feeling like myself, Was talking to my Aunt and she say,s 3 yrs is to long to be like that from Meno, She knows I had A total Hyster. But still insists that,s to long to feel that way. I kind of got upset, I told her I couldn,t take HRT but still insists all this is to long. Does anyone agree with her? Could it be something else????

I am three years post too and I still get occasional hot flashes and sweats. I have anxiety at times too. I don't think there is a time limit on how long this stuff lasts.

Everyone is different in how long symptoms last and what symptoms they have. My sister who is actually almost at her one year mark never had any fatigue but has had a rough time with hot flashes where I hardly had any at all!

I think since you had a total hyster you might be on a different timetable than if you just gradually went through meno. You went through surgical menopause, not the gradual reduction thing.. you did it all in one big BANG laugh.gif I'm not sure if it matters, but I can't see that NOT mattering. I think women who go thru surgical menopause have it harder.

Also.. if you didn't have anxiety, shakes, flashes BEFORE your surgery, then I would think it was for sure related to the hyster.

My Aunt is 73ish and she has been done a while (no hysterectomy) and she still get's hot flashes and sometimes a little anxious. So, as screwed up as that is it is possible.

I PM'd you by the way.

I continue to have anxiety/power surges and have for 8 years now. However, it is probably a good idea to get a good physical with a knowledgeable doctor. I would especially recommend that your thyroid function be checked thoroughly.

No I had NONE of this before the total hyster.

hi lil
i am next to going on 4 years post meno, my anxiety is out of control and so are the night sweats and mood swings, well, all 34 meno symtoms.........this was really nice to hear from a friend of mine............"i know somebody that had a total nervous breakdown going thru meno" whoa!
if they legalized mariuna...can't spell it, "weed", i honestly think i'd try a one, see if it takes me away from the extremes i'm going thru...
i also realize that at night, when i get panicky, the sweat pours off me more than ever.
yet, each person is different, and i am going thru a very, high end stressful time. dry.gif

I see the last post to this page was several days ago, but wanted to put in my 2 cents. I am 2 years post and the symptoms just keep on coming however they wax and wayne. The hot flashes will get better for many months then return. The same with anxiety and sleepless nights. I am tired of telling the doctors that it is hormones. They really don't want to do anything for you. I thought a women doctor would be better but they are all so young and most of them barely had their first child let alone started menopause. Anyway, my point is yes, the symptoms can continue well past the last period. I just wish I knew what to do to make it better. Best luck to all !

Hi,

I am also about 4 years post and I still have the flashes, although not as often. The panic attacks have just come back with a vengence. I am 56 and I thought that all of this would be gone. But no! I don't know when, if ever, I will be finished. Of course we won't even talk about the lost libido, fatigue and mood swings!
