as most of you already know, i've been having issues with my heart (heart attack), congestive heart failure and so on. yesterday, i went in for another angio and they found still more blockage (90% in one arterty and 70% in another) besides looking at the valve that had been damaged in the heart attack. a bypass surgery was recommended and they wanted to send me immediately, by ambulance, however, since i'm on certain meds that need to be out of my system before they can do this surgery, i have to wait until next thursday, the 10th.

needless to say, i am freaking out in every sense of the word. i thought the worst of all this was over and yet, here we go again! all i want to do is stay 'doped up' until this is over with and i get to come home!

please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, girls! i've always found so much support here, no matter what the situation and i'm so grateful for that in each of you! i'm hoping to be able to take my laptop with me to the hospital so that i can post and keep you updated.

love and hugs to you all!!

Oh Stephanie, darlin'

- I'm so sorry ---What a bummer, eh? Try to stay positive okay? I know that's easier said than done because you're feeling so terribly afraid, but the doctors are now on your case, and they are going to get you well again. Dont forget, these people are specialists, they perform ops like this every day, so you'll be in safe hands.....

Keep us all posted! We care so much! I think you're going to be just fine!! smile.gif

Lots of love and (((hugs)))

I can't imagine how you are feeling (well I can...frightened would come to mind) Try and be positive and have faith your doctors are going to get your through this and you will feel better than ever. If you need to Xanax or whatever to cope until then and it doesn't impact the surgery, then do whatever you must to keep yourself calm. That is so important if possible. Also I know there are certain times that are better for surgery purposes I think. At least I heard it somewhere. Sorry I don't have more definitive answers in that regard for you, maybe you can check online or someone on the board knows.
Take care of yourself my prayers are with you.

A friend of the Family had such a bad heart attack that every time the nurses went by his room they fully expected to find him dead, he had surgery and recovered. He went on to raising and showing horses and died back about 5 years ago, 25 years after his heart attack. He was 83. My whole family are walking blockages including me, my mom, her sister, brother it's a rampant occurrence in our family. I warned the Dentist last month that I had a major blockage behind my heart and his comment was, every 4th person that sits in this chair has the same thing?????? Surgery is so advanced now that truthfully everyone I know has made it through and lived on many more years. As for being doped up till next Thurs.???? Heck girl I'd do the same thing, why not? Might as well be relaxed while your waiting. I'll do it when my turn comes. I'll be thinking about you on surgery day and praying the surgeon has your angel guiding his hands. I fully intend to add you to my list of successes. Hugs Jill

i love you guys and all the support and encouragement you've given so much - more than you'll ever know!! i don't mind admitting that the closer it gets, the more difficult it is to hold it together. i'm going through xanax like never before! all my kids are home and i've gotten to sit them down one by one and have a little talk with them to see how they feel about it all and it always ends up the same... in tears. if i can ask one other favor... please keep my youngest (just turned 12) in your prayers. she's so difficult to read at times. i think she feels she has to be strong for me and i hate that!

on the medical front... i've heard this dr is one of the best. he's done several others that i know that i wasn't even aware of until it became my turn. so... i'm confident as far as he goes.

i just received my new laptop yesterday and am in the process of getting it all set up so that i can (or one of my dd's) can keep you posted as things move along.

how am i really feeling, emotionally, right now? I'M FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!! i never, ever thought i'd be here at this point in my life!

please keep praying and i know you will! that's what has gotten me through up to this point!

much love and hugs to each of you...

((((((Steph)))))) we are all here for you.......I am praying for you and your family too, especially your 12 yr old, I also have one of those at home and know how special that age is, how vulnerable they are, but they are also stronger than we realize! You will get your strength from your kids and your family, and you will feel so much better after your bypass -- the doctors will take good care of you so you can go home to your family healthy! Keep us posted as we worry about you my friend!

much love and hugs,
Barb

Steph, you will be fine! I don't mean to sound like it's no big deal but try to remember that this surgery is done everyday by the thousands all over the world. I know so many people who have had it and have come out better and stronger than they've been in years. You will too!!! I know it's hard to do but please try not to get yourself too worked up about it. Take your xanax and try to relax bit. They will have you out of bed the very next day and before you know it you'll feel so much better...like a new woman! Try to think positive thoughts ... it'll make the wait a bit easier and believe it or not, it will impact your recovery tremendously. You and I will be having surgery on the same day so maybe we can pass some subliminal messages to each other while we're asleep! LOL Hang in there darlin', it'll all be ok.
Hugs to you,
Jan

jan... didn't know you would be having surgery, too. what are you having done, if you don't mind my asking?

Hey gyzzie,
Oh, it's nothing like yours, mine is elective fortunatly. I'm having a tummy tuck and boob lift. I only mentioned it because we would both be asleep at the same time I suspect. Oh, and we'll both be sore after we wake up. I will say a little prayer for you that morning my dear. Don't worry, all will be fine for you.

jan... i was just talking to my hub about that very thing this morning - wondering if they'd go ahead and do a boob lift and tummy tuck while i'm under?!?!?! wouldn't that be nice!! we probably will be asleep at the same time, but i will be thinking of you and praying all goes well with yours, which i'm very sure it will! btw, would love to see before and after pix!

Gyzzie,
I love ya and all that but NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, is seeing the BEFORE pix!!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif They made ME sick to my stomach. All I could think of was how much worse it looked in a photo than in the mirror. My poor husband has been looking at THAT for 20 years? Poor man!

Maybe when you have your heart all fixed up you can entertain the other. Of course, it's not covered by insurance so you have to decide whether you want to put on that new roof or look 25 years younger. Tough decision. wink.gif
hugs!

Dearest
Stephanie,

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Your anxiety is natural despite the fact that bypass surgery has become such routinely performed surgery and tremendous advancements have been made. Still, it's your body and your personal experience. My mom always said, "The anticipation is greater than the realization." It always seemed to work out that way. We worry our heads off and by the time the moment has come, we handle it like soldiers! You will, too!

Seeing as how tomorrow's the big day, I would caution you (although I'm sure you know this already) not to self-medicate - including Xanax - without consulting the surgeon.

Everything's going to turn out just fine! Know that the prayers and thoughts of Power Surge, and everyone associated with it, will be with you when you need us.

Hugs,
Dearest
