Hello PS sisters,
Well I had decided to let my hair grow out naturally gray and things were going pretty good, but now I have a couple of sore places-one worse that the other with a mole? that I have been keeping check on.
It even feel like it may be an ingrown hair, I don't know.
I also changed my mind about the gray color and bought a hair color and was going to bite the bullet and color my hair-BUT-not now, not with this.
My hair is now to my shoulders. Is it time to change shampoos or what?
Just irks me-these changes and all.
Sorry to complain, I do have a good head of hair otherwise.
Anybody have any similar thing happen and any advise?

I dunno.......but I am having scalp issues myself. I just have scaly patches on both sides of head and talk about itching! ohmy.gif It's become an obsession now. I wanted to start a post about scalp dermatitis but PS would not allow it........ Hope you don't mind if I piggy-back, Seneca??

Anyone had this?

Yes, two years ago I had terrible scalp issues to the point were my hair was breaking of at the root in certain places. And during shampooing I felt like I had little cuts all over my head. Rinsing with plain water hurt so bad I thought my hair had to be falling out in the sink! Thank God it wasn't.

On top of that I had unexplained areas of itchy rashes/scaliness on the backs of my thighs, buttocks, arms, and crotch area. I thought maybe I was ingesting too much Equal. The dermatologist was stumped and said blood tests showed "autoimmune components." She injected me with a steroid that was supposed to weaken my immune system because maybe my body was fighting itself and causing the skin problems. Weakened immune system in the middle of winter?? Luckily I never caught the flu or a cold because I never went anywhere around people or worse, kids. I had 3 injections in 4 months and the recommended number is 2 per year. So I quit that too when I notice the fine peach fuzz on my body was turning dark and coarse! Forming a hump at the back of the neck was also a side effect. I was going to turn into a buffalo!

I began to eat better and take vitamins just because I needed to, not because it was supposed to help. Eventually I noticed I was itching less and the rashes were dying back but leaving dark marks behind because of the scratching I suppose. I scoured the internet for answers and there are so many "itis's" I never did figure it out.

I'm expecting whatever it was to come back because I never really did anything to prevent it. If it does, one thing I will not do is get that injection.

Something I noticed about the skin rashes is that sun exposure helped once when I went to Florida I'm taking vitamin D supplements now so maybe it'll ward it off .. I dunno... my main issue now is excessive facial hair and I'm considering visiting an endocrinologist soon. I'm not even sure that's the right kind of doctor to see.

Used Neutrogena's T-Gel shampoo last night. What a difference! Now I just have to keep my hands away from my head ohmy.gif

If you feel the ever maddening desire to scratch and you just KNOW you are going to put oven mitts on your hands and scratch away. While your body is thinking it is being scratched no harm is being done. Nails can actually lacerate the tender skin on your scalp. I also find if I wash my hair to often it washes away all the natural oils that protect and leaves me with a nasty case of seborrea.
