Okay, so I ate a frito pie with chili last night at the ballgame. When I got home my chest was hurting so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack. I didn't have any reflux, indigestion, just the pain centered around my sternum. This is the 2nd time I have had this this month. I am 36 and never had any issues with heartburn before. This is my 3rd month on progesterone taken 14 days out of the month and I am wondering if this could be related as the only times I remember ever having indigestion much was when I was pregnant.

Hi there,

I have GERD and have been taking Prilosec for a couple of years now for it. I definitely have found a correlation between progesterone and my GERD symptoms.
I just stopped taking my P and have noticed a great deal of improvement in all of my digestive/GERD problems.

Now I just have to find some sort of alternative to the compounded cream so I can continue to take some E.

Have you tried taking some OTC Prilosec or something like Pepcid AC for your symptoms? Also, giving digestive enzymes a try might help.

Or you could come off the P and see if that changes anything for you.

I did take some of my husbands Prilosec (OTC) and it seems to help. I have a few more days of the Progesterone this month and then I go back to the doctor to check and see if I will need to keep taking it or not. Thanks, I know ball food park is not the best for you but one night has never bothered me like that before.
