Hi All,

I've been reading about adrenaline surges. I think I had one today. Sitting at the computer quietly reading something on the screen when bam! Felt like some big thing surged in my body and practically knocked me off the chair. Stood up immediately and had to grab onto something. Also a lot of heart pounding. It passed in all of 20-30 seconds.

My question is regarding the residual effects. If it was indeed an adrenalin "surge," why the feeling of weakness, exhaustion, achiness, and continued off-balance feeling hours later? In the past when this has happened to me sometimes the after effects can last for days. Kind of like the "surge" was announcing a bad spell.

Obviously, I know anxiety can be a factor. But have others experienced these surges with residual effects, and has anyone found anything to help?

Thanks
Missy

Hi missy:

Yes I do experience these but have found nothing that helps except to ride them out.

I've had these, too. I don't feel the effects for the rest of the day, however. It helps to move on to something else, although I understand how difficult that can be.

Oh yes I have experienced quite a few of these and the after effects are not pleasant!

I have weakness in my legs, arms and feel quite drained of all energy, also bad dizziness.

If there's an afterlife I'm coming back as a bloke! dry.gif

How old are you? I am just 30 and I have been having surges...especially early in the morning lately. I wake up feeling like I am surging. I want to sleep in but I have to just get up...I just can't lay still, my legs need to move. My hands were hot and tingly too. I know that I am prone to anxiety, but I am NOT this anxiety ridden SURELY!! I HAVE been under stress battling with dizziness and digestion issues all year, but I am still thinking it is hormones too... I have been taking pristiq (suggested by my gyno) and I think it has helped some emotionally but it has not helped with the surges.
