Dear Ladies,
My husband was admitted to the hospital on Thursday with dizziness and chest pain. He has a history
of atrial fibrillation and they quickly determined that this was the case again. They were able to convert
his heart back to a normal rhythm with a medication & he stayed in the hospital until Friday evening.
When his cardiologist (a wonderful man) came in to see him, he asked if he'd like to go home
and do all the testing they had planned on an outpatient basis. Since my husband has a long standing
problem with anxiety (especially on health issues, since he has a list as long as your arm of medical conditions,
including several small strokes, a large aortic aneurysm, chronic high BP which is unresponsive to meds, etc)
he jumped at the chance.
I was very happy to have him home, of course, but he looks to me for reassurance and explanation
about tests, med changes, etc, and I feel completely drained. He is tired and doesn't have much appetite---
I put on a cheerful and encouraging face but inside I'm scared. I can't sleep and I'm sporting a big ole
fever blister.
I just needed to get it all out...

Jan,
Even if you don't feel strong inside, it is good that you are reassuring him. It is so important that he is not stressing about this. I know it has been hot & humid here lately, but can you go for a walk to relieve your anxiety? This is a trying time for you both.

Thank you so much for your encouraging replies
Our family doctor of many years just retired and so it feels very much like we're
on our own, even though I know it isn't so. My husband has had to deal with so many hospitalizations
over the last five or six years.
It means more than you can know to have support!
