Not whining just venting. I work 12 hour days 5 days a week already. I have an awsome opportunity to pick up another part time job. While it is something I would love doing I think it would turn my workday 5 days a week into a 17 hour workday 5 days a week. My husband says it's too much. I will end up stroking out. My oldest son (who works) is pissed because I realize my husband is right. Most days by the end of the 12 hour shift I am ready to collapse. HOW can I work from 6am until 8:30 or nine at night, monday thru friday and not lose my mind. It wouldn't be so bad if I could count on them to make dinner, do the dishes and have the house clean for the next workday but that is NOT gonna happen and I know it! I feel like a **** because these people want to interview me today and the economy ***** so I feel like I should grab at any and all chances. How do you say no when you've realized your bitting off more than you can chew?

Well, Ladybugs, you JUST SAY NOOOOOO!!!!! Trust me, your health will suffer if you don't and it will end up costing you more in the long run. Decide what you CAN and WANT to do and then do only that. It's just not worth it!

I would look at it this way: if it's something you love to do and extra money would be a bonus, I say go for it but let the employer know you on taking on quite a bit and see it there is any flexibility to the job persay....

As for the family, I have begun the gigantic shift from making THEM happy all the time to making ME happy now....after almost 31 years of kids and marriage and mom taking the back seat, they are now grown, I have free time on my hands I never knew before so if something comes that I love doing, they will have to adjust.....

May sound selfish but the amount of time I invested in running the family home had me sacrificing things I wanted to do for the sake of the family...I know, they don't prescribe that but in "my day",, that's how it was done. And now it is my time....

Go for it and good luck...maybe they will even surprise you and have the house clean and dinner waiting for you (lol I tell my husband, I will consider me dead and in Heaven if I EVER walked in the door with dinner waiting for me...... dry.gif )

nc, I did what she does for almost 13 years, so I KNOW what it's like. She would have to be the bionic woman to work 2 jobs. The one she has now is totally thankless and totally unforgiving. There is almost no room at all for mistake! It is neverending! She LIVES at work, 24/7. It would be very good to get out of the house. Maybe pay someone to come in and do the cleaning and cooking. ONLY so she can have some down time. YEA RIGHT!!! Like I can afford to do that!! It's not gonna happen, I can hear her now!!

Hi Ladybugs,

Wow!!! That's a lot of working. 6AM until 8:30 or 9PM is like 14 1/2---15 hours a day. I did it more than once and while the money sure came in handy, the house went to hell-in-a-handbasket. Even though my husband and kids tried to chip in they just didn't do it the way I would have dry.gif . If you're physically able to do it and really could use the money, I would say try it for awhile and see how it works out. You could always quit the part-time job if you find it impossible or find that it's taking a toll on your health and sanity. Is your primary job 6 to 6? I see that you said you already work 12 hour days. That doesn't even give you a chance for a decent dinner break. What time do you have to be at the second job? You'll be able to tell very quickly if it's just too much so what have you got to lose? Whatever you decide, I wish you all the best.

God bless,
Donna

Hi lady:

I know I could not do what you are doing and I admire you for it but only take on what you know you can do.

I will pray for you to make the right decision.
Hugs to you,

Hi Ladybugs,

What did you decide to do about that part-time job? If you do take it can I be your new best friend----I've always wanted to hang out with the rich and the famous. laugh.gif

Thanks all. Nope didn't take it. I decided I value my sanity (what little is actually left of it!) more than that. I am happy to say I am back to a full load in the full daycare. Thank you GOD!!!

Thank God!! He was really looking out for you lady! I was concerned that you would try to do the other job in addition to your already very long day and just burn yourself out. I'm glad to hear things have worked out so you can have your evenings free with that wonderful husband of yours!!! I have a friend who says she doesn't worry about money, etc. because she knows that God will provide whatever she needs. You know what? He ALWAYS does!!! Looks like he's taking care of you too.
hugs to you!

with the hours that i used to work, which was grueling, my greatest wish was to be able to hire a house cleaner once a week.....but i couldn't swing it, oh and of course a laundry lady, forgot, a food shopper and a cook....lol wink.gif
