Can anyone tell me about using Klonopin for anxiety. My anxiety never seems to completely go away, and I never feel like I can truly relax anymore. Xanax works for the short term, and I can take it as needed, but I'd like to try Klonopin in the am and pm, and truly give my body/mind a break. I cannot take SSRI's- tried Zoloft and Lexapro, made my heart jump to a whole new beat. . . anyway, if anyone has suggestions, experience, I would sure welcome the information. Judy
My doctor gave me klonopin to take every twelve hours and told me it should cover the anxiety all day. I remember that klonopin was the first medication I was given when I started having panic attacks in my twenties and it worked great. I didn't have a single panic attack for a month. By that time, I was transitioned to Desipramine. I was disappointed when I took the klonopin this time that it was too sedating for me during the day (I work full time) and it wore off just as quickly as the ativan.
I have heard some very positive things from others about klonopin, it just didn't work as well for me. I didn't do well with lexapro either and am having ups and downs on zoloft, but I've only been on a therapeutic dose for a month and I hear it can take two months to really work. So I take ativan to keep the anxiety at bay because it's not as sedating and I can still work and I take xanax at night if I absolutely can't get to sleep and it's making me panicky.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
