I have read several gals stories that are happy with Effexor. I was the opposite and begged for something to get it out of my system. When I have had to take something I stick with the old timeys like prozac or zoloft.

Effexor is an Anti Depressant, it's not really for hot flashes, but what do I know, I heard coming off this stuff isn't pretty, but everyone is different. Good luck with it and I hope it helps you, it has helped alot of girls with anxiety and depression but I didn't know it was given for hot flashes.

Hugs,

I looked up and this is what I found , I took it for a while and had no problems and no problems getting off it but I was only on it for a year or so.

You must wait at least 14 days after stopping an MAOI before you can take Effexor. After you stop taking Effexor, you must wait at least 7 days before you start taking an MAOI.

Effexor Oral may also be used to treat:

Repeated Episodes of Anxiety, Extreme Apprehension or Fear of Social Interaction, Posttraumatic Stress Syndrome, "Change of Life" Signs, Neuropathic Pain

Change of life signs --- Now just what is that ??? *Sigh*
