Okay, so here we go again biggrin.gif

I got my meds changed from Avilide to Ramapril because I felt like I was on a bad LSD trip on Avilide. In doing a bit of research in the last few days of hell, I have noticed that anxiety/nervousness is a very common symptom of most if not all BP meds ( not beta blockers). Now, I truly cant' believe this. Who would make these drugs. Greedy med companies that don't give a hoot, I guess.

I'm tryin this med now, Ramapril 2.5mg, the lowest dose and I'm just curious to see if anyone out there in PSville has any info or is taking it. I hope someone out there can give me some insight.

Thanks

Hugs and Love,

Moozie

I have no insight for ya, nor experience...but I just wanted to tell you that I wish you luck on this new med. It is great that your doctor agreed to change it for you. When are you going to start the new med??

I,ve been taking Ramapril for 18 months now and I,m ok.
Initial side effects....a very dry mouth, feeling very thirsty but that wears off after a week or so.
If I forget to take it though,I feel odd,so try and take it at a regular time.
Doc has just upped my dose to 5 ml
I,m only 37 and think I,m going through Peri too.....God....will I ever feel healthy again?????

Hi Mooz,

My husband is on ramipril, same dosage 2.5 mg once a day - little yellow and white capsules.
He also takes metoprolol. He has never had any adverse effects at all from this medication.
My brother-in-law also takes ramipril but at a higher dose as did my mom and they also never had any problems with it.
I hope this one works out better for you. Let us know.
Hugs,
Arla.

Okay, here is the scoop biggrin.gif

I am on day two of the stupid med and it seems alot better than the other one that just about did me in. So far wink.gif I'm really tired, but not like the other one and my BP is really good, kind of amazing actually. Anyways, I cant' imagine what I would of been like after 2 weeks of that other c**p. If feel kind of drugged , or is it anxiety ? Man, 10 years post and more to deal with ...nice.

Thanks girls for the replies, so much appreciated.

Hugs,

Moozie

P.S. I will keep ya posted

Hi Moozie - my guess is that nervousness as a side effect is experienced in a very low percentage of patients. Sometimes reading all of that information makes us open to suggestion. I take one each of the three major types of blood pressure meds and don't feel that it adds to my anxiety/nervousness at all. Maybe you're just nervous about taking the new drug - give it time and work with it, not against it!
