Full Version: Sudden weak and shaky feeling

Ms. Anxiety
Over the last few months I have had a few episodes of sudden weakness combined with a shaky feeling. Has anyone experienced this and what do you think it is. I use over the counter progesterone and am awaiting the results on some hormone tests. I'm wondering if my estrogen has dropped and I don't need the progesterone, or if it is a blood sugar or adrenal issue.

A few months ago I actually passed out and went to the ER. According to their tests everything is fine. One of the male nurses said it could be a menopause issue. He compared it to the hormonal shifts that make pregnant women pass out sometimes.

I've been through all kinds of tests including a glucose tolerance, which shows that I am a little hypoglycemic so I try to eat small frequent meals with protein.

Any input would be appreciated.

Yep, although not to the point of passing out.

Had something similar yesterday. After feeling just fine, got a nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach, started trembling and sweating. I checked my blood pressure -- it had jumped from normal to 156/97! And my pulse was 93. I was freaked out for about an hour, and then it started to fade. Took about two hours total to get over it.

I've had this several times before. I attribute it to anxiety attacks, since I'm prone to those and haven't been taken my meds like I should. I don't have them when I take the meds correctly.

Hi

Yes I get them and I do think they are due to anxiety or hormones rudhing around your body.

It could also be adrenelin due to anxiety. I do get mine when I am anxious, I wake in the night and start shaking. I also ahve had blood tests fpr thyroid function, blood glucose and diabetis so will let you know when I get the results.

Hope you feel better soon. Just to add my symptom at the moment is head zaps and tension around my head, its horrible.

Anyway just another meno symptom, I think.

Take care

I had this too and come to find out it was episodes of low blood sugar !! I bought a $20 meter that came with the strips from walmart and started checking whenevr I had those scary episodes and sure enough my BS was in the 50's and 60's. If you can't get a meter right now to check whenevr you are having these spells,Try and drink some orange juice or **** on some hard candy and see if this doesn't help how you feel.I had these on and off for months , scared silly because I had no clue what they were.
Hope this helps !!

Ive had it happen to me on several occasions. I have not passed out, but it took me HOURS to recuperate and scared the doo doo outa me. Thought for sure I was gonna be carried to the hospital by ambulance. Maybe the reason I'm scared to exercise, cause it happened when I was out doing some power walking!

It is very scarey and I have no idea what caused it. Lots of very strange things seem to be happening during this time of life. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I never thought about testing my glucose levels, but that is a great idea. I keep testing my blood pressure. Although I not had high bp coincide with the feeling of weakness (I do get the high bp, high heart rate episodes, but that is different). Had one the other evening and felt better after eating a piece of fruit. My iron is low right now too and I know that can affect the thyroid (which affects just about everything) so who knows.

I have had this happen too. I have all sorts of anxiety and blood sugar junk, but that particular one is different. It comes on VERY fast, all of the sudden it's like you just get this shaky, weak feeling that is in the pit of your stomach and radiates all through the body. It usually lasts for about an hour or so, it if feels awful. Both times I remember it happenng to me I had just had a really good snack, so I was surprised that it happened because my blood sugar should have been pretty good. Interestingly both times was about 2-3 days before my period started, so I'm thinking that is was some sort of hormone plumet or rush. But, that's just my theory. Anyhow, I agree it feels terrible and it's hard to do or concentrate on anything until it passes.

Ina just wondering if you have had your results yet. I too have had all these tests, even a three hour glucose. Mine are normal except the thyroid is debatable depending on which Dr. I see and at the end of the 3 hr., my sugar was low so I'm a bit hypo. My TSH was 5.05 last time tested and I am on T3. I'm thinking that the thyroid could be low due to low iron, but I am going to have to get to the endo. and address this. It's very frustrating when one Dr. uses 2.0 for the cutoff above which hypo begins another is using 5.5.

Yesterday I was out to lunch and had that weakish feeling. Very frustrating. It was very subtle but noticeable. Can this all be anxiety? Does anyone else have thyroid issues or borderline thyroid numbers?

I have been dizzy and had to stop my patches. Now I get VERY VERY lightheaded. HEAT outside can make it much worse. I have had to stay INSIDE, very rarely going out. We have had record hot temps this summer. It is awful to feel like I will faint at any moment. My sweet hubby has had to do everything for three months, when this all started. I had a total hyster. a year ago. Patches worked great until three months ago. SO ODD. No doctors understand it at all.
