Full Version: Nausea anyone?

Susie Q
Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone suffers from on and off again nausea when you are post? I am 2 years post this month and I had daily nausea last year at this time for months. Now out of the blue it has hit me again and I have had it daily for about 10 days. I don't feel like I could vomit, but it is a constant mild nagging nausea. Any ideas on what could cause this? Shouldn't the hormones be settled down by now? Does anyone know?

Yes indeed. I am 1+ year post and still have nausea - sometimes it stays for several days and other times it comes and goes. When it comes it usually is gone by the afternoon. Peppermint and ginger help. I believe it's still fluctuating hormones -our hormones continue to fluctuate even though we're post. The joys?! Hang in there, Kathleent

Kathleent,
Thank you for your fast reply. It helps to know someone else is dealing with this. Not that I am happy that you are, I am not for sure. But it helps me to stay sane and not start googling nausea. I know that would throw me into a panic. I wonder what hormone is up or down when the nausea starts? I do know I am still having hot flashes here and there and also get very hot at night and throw the covers off. This nausea is so annoying though.

Hi Susie

Sorry to hear about your nausea - it has also been a problem for me in the last few months (I'm over 2 years post). Sometimes it can be really strong just before a hot flash, and I seem to be having a lot of flashes of late

Worst time for me is late afternoon, but eating an early dinner seems to keep it at bay, also lots of peppermint, fennel and dandelion teas.

I wonder if our hormones ever settle down? My eighty year old MIL still has hot moments and nausea...sigh

Keep smiling and take care - hope it soon passes.

ML

Moonlight Lady,
Thanks for your reply. I will try the peppermint and dandelion tea. My gosh! Your 80 year old MIL still having flashes and nausea? Let's see, I could be having this for another 27 years if I live that long. UGH! Did she say that she has had them all along since going into menopause? Take care.

I have occasional stomach upset, having one today, as a matter of fact. Mine is like an extreme hunger pain. Peppermint tea helps, yogurt, really just eating anything. It's as though as soon as my stomach empties out I start getting hunger pains and then they just escalate. I just went to the health food store and bought some Anti-Gas Formula to try.

Does anyone know if anxiety can make you have constant nausea? I've had alot of things going on in my life lately. Probably the last 2 months and I wondered if that could be a cause. I am taking ativan though, so you would think that would help, but evidently it isn't.

Hi again Susie - yes, nausea is most definitely one of the symptoms of anxiety - I think anxiety can really mess up our digestive systems at the best of times.

I too have a lot of stressful things going on at the moment, the combination of which is giving me some anxious/panicky feelings and tearful moments...I try and deal with them by meditating and relaxation exercises. Today however I've been having some very big and long lasting hot flashes....and very nauseous moments. Not pleasant!

I'm not on HRT or taking any medication, but have been taking high doses of starflower/codliver oil and linseed oil combination. I stopped taking the supplement a month ago and I am wondering if this is perhaps why the flushes and nausea have reared their ugly heads!

Add me to the Holy Cow club too please - I thought post menopause was going to be a time of cool and calm...anyone else want to leap off a cliff with me?!!

Take care,
ML

Yep!, We'll be Thelma and Louise jumping over the Grand Canyon!! LOL! One day of no nausea and it's back again. I don't remember puberty ever being as bad as peri, meno and post. This nausea started the first time in 2005 before I stopped periods. I was hoping post was going to be a normal time again. WRONG!!!!!!

Some advice before you leap off cliffs or into canyons - hold one of those little battery powered fans (the ones that are great for hot flushes) in each hand and make sure you attach one to your head. That way you can fly!! - well, at least till the batteries run out... blink.gif

On second thoughts, flying might just add to the nausea unsure.gif

I actually pictured that in my head! LOL!!!!!!! Thank you for making me laugh!
