I seem to have fits of the giggles on occasion, maybe once a week. Sometimes, I will laugh ferociously for several minutes, like today when I was recalling how my mom in her early 50s, prob post meno, flipping off someone in a parking lot -- very uncharacteristic of her, I was so shocked. I laughed & laughed at the memory of it. I am sure my mom was having some kind of hormonal surge of maybe T & she just let it rip! Yet an hour earlier had been crying bc saw a sad billboard depicting a child in poverty & asking for donations for the charity (Catholic Charities) & was also quite tearful off & on ystrday for various & vague reasons. Perhaps I am just feeling sadness of my passing youth or that the years I have left I must not waste -- which can make one feel oppressed & desperate.
I could not decide if this was the proper forum in which to post this...seems like mood swings to me, although I guess laughing indicates a [i]good[i] mood??? I want to say that this is not just laughing like normally -- but laughing so hard & long that my whole body seems to glow afterward (like good sex, LOL!) It actually does seem to elevate my mood...just wonder if anyone else has this & maybe it is not meno related -- but I think the extreme change in moods might be.

oH GOSH yes Wisevixen,
Can laugh like a deranged hyena sometimes, over nothing, and when try and relate the story to whoever is witness to my hysteria, they just look at me with sympathy!!!
Can then go from that to crying great gut wrenching sobs!
Is there no end to this madness??????????

For me the laughing? No. Singing on the other hand...I have been REALLY cranky the last few days but catch myself intermittenly singing joyful songs. Weird, stupid little diddies and doing a little dance with them as I am cleaning or whatnot. I think my mind has finally snapped and I swear I've gone round the bend! BUT you know what? IF this is what's around the bend....it's not so bad. Crazy has it's plus side...

Had those moments when you don't know to laugh or cry! Other day when we found out we needed a new roof I laugh! My husband said "This is not funny"!
I mean I laugh so hard I had tears!

I know what you mean. Two nights ago I couldn't sleep. I tried to find something on TV to fall asleep to. I ended up watching "Never Been Kissed" and couldn't stop laughing. Believe me, this is a LAME movie, but Drew Barrymore acted like such a dork, I couldn't help it. I go through spells like this. I think I would rather do this kind of laughing than the other moods I have been having.
