Ms. Anxiety
Every few months I have an episode that includes the heart racing, overall weird feeling, a-fib and high bp (180/110). The cardo. has given me meds to take when this happens and all seems to go back to normal in 15-45 minutes. They originally thought I had an adrenal tumor but has since ruled it out.

I'm just wondering if they missed something or do other people get the high bp with this other stuff. My normal bp tends to be 110/70.

It seems like I have read about this on this board in the past.

OH yes. My BP goes way up when I am under stress or even at the doctors office. I just wrote on the board about having a reading o 150/100 when I had a really bad UTI and after the meds kicked in, it went back down to 110/72 (which is more normal for me) I know our BP can fluctuate so much but it doesn't help when you are at the doctors office and then it decides to go up.

I know my doctor was a little concerned this time but I had just gone to the OB in April and my pressure was fine. I have been keeping on eye on it for the last few weeks and all is normal. I know anxiety can really cause things to go nuts. I tend not to take my blood pressure when I am under stress as it will be higher and I don't need that. I only take it when I am nice and calm.

i hope it all works out and try not to worry. smile.gif

Oh yes you described me to a T mellow.gif

It was about 2004 when I believe I started with a butt load of things, everything from chest pain, now I know its costrochronitis. Then the rapid heart beat, Thumping in my ears, that wierd feeling that ended up going away after I would get what I know now is called Dumping Syndrome, not a pretty thing actualy its an almost fainting feeling, dizzy horrible that was relieved after a run to the bathroom.

I went to Cardio's, Gyno's, internal med. specialist, etc.

The Cardio said nothing was wrong with me that losing some wieght wouldnt help, I know he was right and was relieved about that but I still had spikes, yikes.

I finally went to my Internal Med. family doc and in the office my BP went sky hight to 190/110 and he was totally alarmed. He ordered and Echo and a cartoid artery test. He was trying to rule out things and said he didnt believe I had white coat syndrome.

Ok so to make a long story short I now this is my story my opinion, I fought him on the BP meds because I wasnt getting this all month but either before my period or after.

Okay so he agreed to try something he tried DIURETICS a low dose but believe it or not my problem was more PMS than BP.

So I am now at 56 barely entering menopause and my periods are missing, then spotting, then wacky and I do seem to retain more water but the BP spikes now have gone the highest I might have on a bad day has been 127/80.

The moral of the story is to journal your symptoms listen to your body then make the best descison for you.

My sis did decide to take BP meds when she had her issues but that was her decision and I chose to try and go another route that wasnt BP meds.

So take care

Thanks for your replies. I was having some health anxiety. I had one of these episodes out of the blue last week when my d/h and children were out at the movies and I was set to have a relaxing evening to myself. So it made me begin to wonder whether these are really panic episodes or did the drs. miss something when I had the workup for an adrenal tumor over a year ago. People do not always associated high b/p with panic, but maybe most don't take their bp during an episode. Anyway, it sounds like some people do experience this as part of an anxiety attack so it makes me feel a bit better.

We were away on vacation a couple of weeks ago and I was consuming sugar, coffee and other things I normally avoid and maybe it just threw everything out of balance. Who knows.

Thanks

Tinkybug. I think you are right about journaling. I'm not one for meds either. I only take something fast acting when I have one of these events. My dr. would love to put me on a beta blocker.

Ah yes the coffee, sugar etc I had to drop that especailly the delicous coffee and cokes but am glad I did.

Seems as if lil things can trigger this ugly thing we get. I also seemed to have gotten better once I knew I wasnt going to die from it, Yes I kept thinking I am gonna die from this.

Do you get to exercise? I really hate doing it but its a must believe me it is.

Soothing herbal teas are lovely, chamomile with anise , Rooibus is great etc.
Add a lil dash of lemon and honey for taste.

There is also Formula 303 which has all natural ingred. including valerian.

Hope this helps,

Tinkybug I think you are right about the triggers. I have cleaned up my diet so much that its amazing that I have these problems. I've been wheat and gluten free for about a year and a half. I have, on occasion, fell off the wheat wagon and usually within 7-10 days I have one of these episodes.

I used to be at the gym 3-4 days each week, but I have not been very good in that regard. My exercise has been only walking a couple days each week and some weeks I do my pilates dvd. So definitely, my exercise is not what it should be.

I have often thought I was dying during these episodes and just in general with so many weird and unexplained symptions.

For stress I do the herbal teas, 800 mg. of magnesium glycinate and Ashwaghanda 3x per day. Who makes formula 303?

Why didn't someone warn us about this stuff? All the anxiety, heart issues. and overall problems.
