Every few months I have an episode that includes the heart racing, overall weird feeling, a-fib and high bp (180/110). The cardo. has given me meds to take when this happens and all seems to go back to normal in 15-45 minutes. They originally thought I had an adrenal tumor but has since ruled it out.
I'm just wondering if they missed something or do other people get the high bp with this other stuff. My normal bp tends to be 110/70.
It seems like I have read about this on this board in the past.
Oh yes you described me to a T
It was about 2004 when I believe I started with a butt load of things, everything from chest pain, now I know its costrochronitis. Then the rapid heart beat, Thumping in my ears, that wierd feeling that ended up going away after I would get what I know now is called Dumping Syndrome, not a pretty thing actualy its an almost fainting feeling, dizzy horrible that was relieved after a run to the bathroom.
I went to Cardio's, Gyno's, internal med. specialist, etc.
The Cardio said nothing was wrong with me that losing some wieght wouldnt help, I know he was right and was relieved about that but I still had spikes, yikes.
I finally went to my Internal Med. family doc and in the office my BP went sky hight to 190/110 and he was totally alarmed. He ordered and Echo and a cartoid artery test. He was trying to rule out things and said he didnt believe I had white coat syndrome.
Ok so to make a long story short I now this is my story my opinion, I fought him on the BP meds because I wasnt getting this all month but either before my period or after.
Okay so he agreed to try something he tried DIURETICS a low dose but believe it or not my problem was more PMS than BP.
So I am now at 56 barely entering menopause and my periods are missing, then spotting, then wacky and I do seem to retain more water but the BP spikes now have gone the highest I might have on a bad day has been 127/80.
The moral of the story is to journal your symptoms listen to your body then make the best descison for you.
My sis did decide to take BP meds when she had her issues but that was her decision and I chose to try and go another route that wasnt BP meds.
So take care
