OK, I realise I'm in a hellish stage of my menopause and in the last four months I've had ups and downs with relationships, I've taken on a very demanding new business and I'm still making efforts to continue my old one, my osteoarthritis is playing me up something awful and I'm very run down and losing weight, I've experienced the recent unexpected deaths of two very close friends and raised a litter of pups as well. Yes I think we can agree I might be a be stressed right now!

So I'm having two week long periods with a week or so break in between and I get Cystitis, unusual for me but usually turns up when I'm mega-stressed. Spookily I had my bitch spayed last week and she picked up post-op cystitis, then I came out in sympathy a few days later, flippin' pheramones!Usually though an over the counter remedy will shift it in a couple of days... but not this time. Is that common? Anyone got a miracle cure I could try? Boy would I be grateful!

Sorry you've got cystitis. I have found that taking d-Mannose supplements on a regular basis has been very helpful in preventing and (to some extent) treating UTIs. They are more potent that cranberry capsules, and certainly more powerful than just drinking cranberry juice. Hope you get through it soon.

I have been battleing this again after having such a nice rest from it. I dont call it cysitis but I know the symptoms jive with it.
I really believe that it is a very dry genie, (vagina) along with hormones from hell.

So what I have been trying is Replens it can be found at walmart.

Before I got the attack I was rubbing Calendula all up there and that had it at bay but I noticed as soon as I started to skip periods and go all wacky my genie acted up.

I do drink Cranberry juice and take cranactin by solaray supplements.

Today it was a bit better and decided to change the regime and try REPHRESH by the same people as replens. It felt very lovely.

I also alternate salves from a web site called Moonmaid botanicals and she has a salve called vital vulva and yeast salve.

I start off with the replens for a week , then alternate with the calendula, and then alternate with the salves. Just gotta keep it moist.

I also attribute that the Omega fish oil supplements oil me from the inside out.

I eat yogurt to keep the freindly bacteria in check.I take probiotics

So it might seem overwhelming but it seems as if taken in combinations seem to work.

Hope this helps.
God bless you

Thanks for the replies, I confess I was getting very concerned that mention of Cystitis was low here and my imagination was going into overdrive, it's a big relief to discover that it does crop up with others too. In the end I dug out my minocycline tablets - prescribed for acne - and double dosed myself for a couple of days which seems to have done the trick.

I think the situation can't be helped much by being on a period so often but it has served as a good wake up call for me. I think I need to make some me time and look after myself a bit more carefully, I haven't really stopped and given myself any time to realise just how ill I'm feeling at the moment.

Thanks, take care...
