Hoping you learned ladies can reassure me.

For five years I've taken 1.25 mg bi-est/50 mg progesterone compounded in duragel for topical application.
Due to my last saliva test (for two years all my hormone levels are increasing to the point where the estradiol is in the high-middle of the range and the progesterone is above the range) the pharmacist suggested lowering the dose of progestore to 25 mg per day.

I am extremely sensitive to homones and medications which is why I had such a low dose to begin with. (Anything higher made me a weepy crazy woman.) But is this level of progesterone still protective of the uterus when taking estrogen? I can't seem to find any recommendatins for low-dose bios with topical application. Or is whole prescription such a low dose it doesn't really matter?

Any help? Your time is most appreciated.

I am having my bloods tested tomorrow....{day 3 } LH & FSH levels
Is the LH to test my progesterone? When I had my Mirena fitted a few years ago,a nurse said I wasnt producing enough progesterone {hence the heavy periods}
the Mirena fell out last November and I,ve had a terrible time, new symptoms daily....
would if the FSH level is normal but the LH low?

I really dont want to battle on....will I be offered some form of treatment?
if not, what herbal remedies can anyone recommend for the following.....; total loss of sex drive, weepiness, irritability, sore breasts,weakness,tiredness...
I am tempted to take AD's but have used St Johns Wort before and found it helped, though this is definitely more than a bout of mild depression.....
any help much appreciated

Kim you should do okay if you are lowering and not raising it.

Mis it looks like they aren't testing anything but your thyroid. You need to ask them to test your P, E and T as well. Otherwise you are wasting your money if you think you are getting a hormone panel done.

Over the counter and herbal remedies aren't very helpful. It sounds like you have some hormone imbalance issues and you need to have those tested...not just the thyroid!

are you kidding me?!!
I dont pay for my healthcare.....'good old NHS' ....... not!

I had my thyroid tested with my last doc and it was ok
I am so very angry now ,because I cried my eyes out in that surgery and begged for help.
American healthcare seems better than ours....or is it because you pay for everything?
I have only just changed Doctors too......I could cry
I think I will pay for a private test...I am SO MAD!!
If I have to pay Private to get proper results then so be it.....oh I,m spitting feathers here!!!!!!!!

DaVinci: Thanks for the response. I know we're all just a giant experiment, and there's not
much I can do but try out the recommendations, but I try to to be a knowledgeable patient.

I appreciate your help.

I had my bloods done today,by the nurse and asked about the 2 tests and she said the progesterone is separate,so I asked if I could have that tested also, and vit B12 which I suspect I lack also.
she wrote the extra tests down in the box!
Now I wish I,d have asked for the T test too which I guess is the testosterone?
this must surely be why my sex drive is non existant?
women produce small amounts of testosterone too, dont they?

get my results thursday

Hi the test FSH follicle stimulating hormone, is what they test to see if you are menopausing. it gets high. We have T and some woman very little but some like me it gets higher after meno. My body trying to make more E ....T can turn into E. but E cannot turn to T.

Good at least they are testing more than the thyroid!

Don't go into the thread about getting health care reform in America then lol! I am happy with my treatment and coverage and would much prefer it to stay the way it is.

Dear Kimber:

With that low of a dose of Biest in the Duragel, then progesterone 25mg instead of 50mg should be protective in your case, yes.
Sincerely.
