hi ladies,

Yeah, this is a little scary, but maybe not...... i had been for a walk, came in and plopped down on my couch and began to watch TV, i always sit indian style on the couch, legs folded in half underneath me .... but this time, for some reason, the vein or artery in BACK of my leg (on the calf, right below the back of your knee area), began to really PUMP hard (and this was only after sitting like that for about ONE MINUTE!) .... so, that freaked me out and felt gross, so i immediately uncrossed my legs, and stretched out the leg in front of me ....... it began to feel weird, hot/cold, tingling, pins and needles. .... so, at first, i thought maybe i had just cut off the circulation, but usually you don't feel your vein or artery (or whatever is behind there) PUMPING SO HARD ...... usually, if your leg falls asleep, you begin to notice it because it feels numb . WEll, this was a bit different. So, I sat there for a minute or two, with my leg stretched out, and it still felt weird, and sort of warm ... i got up, and began to pace, to see if I could get the blood flowing a bit better, and because by now, i was having lots of anxiety, thinking this was a blood clot! (for some insane reason, i am SO afraid of that!) Well, now it's been about 20 minutes, and STILL, the calf part of my leg (mainly in the back of the leg) feels "weird"....kind of "warm", with a bit of pins and needles ..... I think by now, if it had been a blod clot, i would've known.......maybe i pinched a nerve????? All I can rem. is how gross that felt, when the vein or artery began to PUMP HARD ...UGH! Now, i'm afraid to lay down and go to sleep, I keep thinking that when I'm sleeping, this supposed "clot" will form, and kill me! I know,....maybe overdone here, but when this anxiety gets going...oh boy, I can come up with some doozies! lol ...

anyone here ever had anything like this? and what happened? Thanks ladies!

Hi! I'm so sorry you had such a scary experience sad.gif I also have some real hot button health fears and I know what it's like to start having an odd symptom and ending up thinking the absolute worst. I haven't had this particular one, but I do know that during peri our bodies are having some big vascular changes..... so blood flow, hence the dizzies, hotflashes, etc. So it isn't hard to imagine what happened to you as something vascular.

I hope its passed and you're feeling better!

All best,
Cynthia

i would take a warm bath and then just keep your leg elavated for awhile......

Hope you are feeling better and the weird leg feeling has passed.

I haven't had exactly what you have been feeling, but I have had a heavy throbbing lower leg feeling: I had a soak in the bath and rubbed my leg with some warming lotion and it did pass, i did notice however after, that some thread veins had appeared - don't know whether there is any relevance to that or just a coincidence. But I sincerely hope you are feeling better, because all these new feelings can be quite scary.

Lots of hugs (((Mydarling)))

I haven't had this thing either, but do know how any odd sensation can make you get very anxious, then hot, tingly and nervous. I hope you went back to sleep and are now feeling better.

oh boy, THANK YOU ALL FOR RESPONDING ! you know, just because you haven't had the exact same thing, just the fact that you cared enough to stop, and say something encouraging and supportive, is so darn great! THANK YOU! Yeah, i got freaked out AGAIN, and you'd think i'd be used to all this junk by now ..... and to some extent i am .... but then, somehting suddenly pops up, something NEW, and there I go!!!! I usually try to talk myself out of it, and calm down .... which i was trying to do before i even posted this .... but alas, that was to no avail. .... and in the end, there's nothing like "talking" to people who've either dealt with the same thing, or something similar ....... OR, who at least care enough to stop and say it'll be alright! so, ladies...thank you again!

I did end up falling asleep, I took a xanax! lol ... well, it was that or stay awake all night, pacing.....I did fall asleep, and slept fairly well too! Today, my leg feels better, thank God, it still feels a little "off", hard to explain....but, it's almost back to normal...........

THANK YOU GUYS! smile.gif

Hi My Darling:

I am glad that you were able to sleep and are feeling better.
I have not had exactly what you describe but a similar experience. I was sitting on the bed crossed legged and felt this weird pins and needles behind my right knee. When I straightened and felt back there the vein felt rigid, like it had rolled or twisted is a better word. Anyway, it sort of hurt but nothing alarming just felt strange. I like you freaked out with the blood clot theory and began walking and stretching. By the next day it was fine.

This makes me wonder if somehow the vein rolled or twisted and that is what caused the unusual feeling. Anyway I have not experienced it again.

Hugs to you,
Jeaninne

It sounds like you may have compressed a vein or artery in your leg. That would explain the pins and needles feeling.

Laura we need to stop worrying about every little thing!

I got stung by a bee today and set around waiting for serious symptoms!

I don't know my leg still hurts smile.gif

I know how these weird feelings start to get scary. It seams every five minutes there's ads with the symptoms of some disease.I'm getting a lot of pins and needles in my left foot and sometimes hand.My husband says it's probably a pinched nerve in my back?? But as far as the clot goes my very healthy and fit brither injured his leg this summer and he got a blood clot and his leg really swelled up and he was in a lot of pain. But even then it was no emergency they just gave him a blood thinner for a while and it passed. So it doesn't sound to me like a clot. Take Care Lumz

I was actually send a few months ago to the hospital from my doctor office for a ultrasound to rule out for a blood clot.

I had pain in my left leg for weeks so I was pretty sure it wasn't a blood.

I'm pretty embarrass when my doctor now walks into the exam room carrying my heavy-thick medical records!

I joke and said is this a women thing?
His response> I have men in here every week worse than most women I know.

So I felt a little better!

Wanted to add I have only seen my doctor 4 times this year, so pround of mysefl!!!
Twice for check ups and once for the leg pain and recent for my ear pain> so I'm improving!

I had a something in May it was it was a dull ache that throbbed in my lower leg and I had used P cream along with E cream that night so I thought it was from that.. I drank a bunch of wine over nect few days. it would go away when drinking but return. It lasted a week. all I could think of is blood clot and wine thinning my blood.

THANK YOU LADIES! well, everything everyone wrote made me feel better, and at least i know i'm not alone!

Yeah, I know, we do have to stop taking things so darn seriously , but how?..lol....i mean, there you are, and at THAT MOMENT, it overwhelms you, and you feel certain, THIS IS IT!.. lol ... then, after it passes, you feel like an idiot .....
but, thank you all once again! By today, it's back to normal ...... now, it's the other leg that feels weird! geez!
But, i remember back 3 yrs. ago when all this peri stuff hit full force, the first thing to "go" were the legs, horrble pins and needles, burning sensation, tingling, ... you name it! It hung on to just one leg first, (the right one) for 3 weeks, then switched to the left for 3 weeks........i thought for sure, i had some horrible disease! But, since then, my arms, hands, face, tongue, gums, back, head,...have all tingled, burned, felt like pins and needles, ... all of it. So, yeah, to a large degree i'm used to it, but still, it had never happened to me THAT WAY....see, that was the thing,..... if my leg had started up by itself, without having sat on it, then, i would have chalked it up to peri .. but the fact that i was sitting on it, made me wonder if I had done something to myself .... which was now going to cause this FATAL blood clot! Boy, oh boy! When fear takes over, it runs the show!

Snowy, you got stung by a bee? UGH ..i hate that. ... i am such a baby with these things! But usually bee stings aren't dangerous unless you are allergic to them, .. are you? What do you mean, that your leg still hurts?

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!
Snowmoon56
It was a wasp and those little buggers hurt like heck when they sting you.
I'm such a baby these days! I will fuss over a pimple!

Anyway I put baking soda on it last night and today it's ok, still a little red and hurt if I touch it smile.gif
I know>> don't touch it!
At least I'm not allergic!
