I started taking the Women to Women Supplements on Saturday, finally decided to give it a try (although I was concerned w/the amount of niacin that was in them). Instead of taking two, I only took one a day. Figured I would start working myself up. Well up till then, I had been doing pretty good, still had the classic peri symptoms (night sweats) and occassionaly anxiety, but I was doing pretty good. I have been on supplements now for about 5 months or so, and I swear by them...

Well then by say Saturday afternoon started feeling pretty ichy... Mainly my stomach, kind of like nausea, but just an uneasy stomach. Sunday was little better, took them again, then Sunday afternoon same thing. (Now we had a get together here on Sat night, and though I have been staying away from alcohol, I had some beers, so Sunday I just chaulked it up to the beer). Monday, same thing... So last night, I thought to myself, it seems this all started w/the new supplements. I mean sure I drank some beers on Saturday Night, but didn't feel hung over or anything, and besides this started Saturday afternoon. So today I decided not to take the supplements, and again, I still have that ichy stomach feeling. Comes and goes, oh BTW on Saturday AM I had the (well you know lots of trips to the toilet)... That thank God went away. I don't feel like I have a flu or anything, it is just my stomach...

So my question is, do you all think I am right in thinking that new supplements caused this... I mean it started the day I started the new supplements...

And if so, how long do you think till it goes away....

I really want to some type of Supplement, I actually took my other ones this morning, but taking it easy. I am thinking tomorrow, I ain't going to take any thing but my Omega 3 and Evening Primrose...

What do you all think...

Thanks ladies..

If the problems showed up when you started the new supplements then they're most likely the culprit....

yea, it did, and yea that's what I am thinking... I know it's kind of an oxi-moron question, but you know how our peri-brains work... So thanks for helping me keep my head on straight... ohmy.gif I was just hoping they would of worked...

I actually ordered those supplements many years ago and found them to be a little hard on my stomach. I stopped taking them. Not to say there is anything wrong with them, but, I think for me taking too many supplements even though in one pill is too much for my system to handle. As it stands right now I take 2 Vit D3 1000IU each, magnesium, vitamin C and Melontin right before I go to sleep and I have been sleeping pretty decently. Plus of course the 1 mg xanax as needed (but never more than 1mg daily) and lexapro.

Hey Becca girl, how ya doing other than that??

Becca,

Maybe you could take half doses and see if that works better or take some one day and others the next (if you can't divide the dose). It may just be that the amounts are too high. I heard that too much magnesium can cause the bathroom troubles.

How are you both? I didn't get to post much today. Was watching Discovery Health Channel with my girls.

Guess I ought to get my behind to bed, though. Gotta get up and work again tomorrow.

Hi Becca,

Had same awful thing you are describing, lasted a few weeks, and also I had been taking EPO x3 a day and had started taking another supplement, when this hit me. So I stopped taking them all,it cleared up,so slowly introduced EPO again, and started just last weekend with the tummy upset(dash to loo)

So I think it could be that, although some ladies have these symptoms with no mention of taking supplements.Yours sounds very much like is though with how quick it started in relation to taking them.

Drives me mad mad.gif try and help ourselves and it backfires.

Shall we scream together Becca AaaaaaaaaaaaaGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Hey all me ladies... LOL

I am only taking (should say was) only taking 1/2 the recommended dose...

Yes, I too think it there is just too much of something in that supp. I usually take multi's that are usually over the RDA in alot of vit's, but not usually this much.. My belly stell feels like aghhhh... I woke up w/it again today, I mean it is a little better, it's kind of like that feeling you get when you are really hungry, but with some added nausea. Ah Kath, a few weeks, great... dry.gif

I had finally just had my stomach all straigten out from the acid reflux, it was so nice while it lasted. I also stopped taking the probiotics now too, just like you said, will try to slowly reintroduce everything back into my system.. I MUST have my Omega'3s & EPO, so I will continue to take but will also cut back on the amount I take... Just stinks cuz up until trying these new supp's I think I had a pretty good thing going... What's the old say, it broke don't fix it, I was just hoping for a little more relief, but good gosh this does just stink..

I have to also start work back next week, oh so looking forward to that (NOT!!)... I just hope by then this belly thing will be done..

If it ain't one thing it's another... But it surely did a number on my digestive system, that's for sure... mad.gif

Thanks ladies, and yes other than that, been pretty good.

I find supplements VERY difficult.......it took me 2 and a half weeks to take the recommended daily dose of magnesium(I take it in a powder). Vit D made me feel REALLY ill so I cannot take it. My GP told me that I had to sit in the sun in the morning for half an hour for 3 months and my Vit D levels would come back within range. My vit D levels are 35 (range 50-200). If you are feeling icky, then I would say your sups are the culprit.

At the moment, I am supposed to be taking bucket loads of fish oil(to lower cholesterol and for inflammation), magnesium, Celery juice capsules for arthritis/sore joints, HRT, glucosamine.......and the list goes on........I can barely take any of it!!

Take care babe......look after that icky tummy..... smile.gif

Becca,

Do you take your supplements with food or before a meal? I take a multivitamin and many other supplements prescribed by my naturopath and she instructed me to take with food, better absorption, etc.

Anyway, just a thought.

I am inclined to agree with the others. Some of these supplements can be pretty hard on the digestive system.I tried a Menopausal supplement and spent most of my time in the Bathroom trying to get rid of the stuff
I am sure there are people who may tolerate them well but not this girl!
Hope you feel better soon
Warm Wishes

P.S. Sip small amounts of room temperature Ginger Ale throughout the day.It will help settle the old Tum!

Best Wishes

Oh for sure!! I think it's just this particular brand... Been off for two days now, and starting to feel a little better...

Thanks ladies...

Becca,

Don't you have Hashi's? I find with this that I am even sensitive to some supplements... Wish I knew why we just cannot take some things. The very thing that causes most of our symptoms is the thing that prevents us from taking anything for it.

Hope you get it all figured out and can find something you can tolerate.

hugs,

I am feeling better, it's just a little every now and then, but it is much better. I really just think that particular supplement was hard on me... I am actually back on the ones that I was taking before the change, and still doing okay. I am out of my probiotics, which I do want to get some more when I can, for they do seem help get my belly back on track..

Thank you ladies for all of your input, and for reminding me that I need to call them, so I can ship it back and get a refund (wish me luck....)
