Hi Ladies,

Looking for a little advice here. I am 42 and I have recently been getting these HORRIFIC zits, and I have never had pimples in my life! I have two kinds: tiny little bumps all over my forehead that you can't really see (although they are annoying) and deep, almost cystic bumps on my nose.

The large red bumps on my nose are far more troublesome. They are painful and they don't go away until I pop them (sorry, TMI) and then they heal very slowly. As soon as one goes away, another one will pop up. My T-zone is like an oil slick, it's unbelievable!

What is up with this and how do you recommend I treat them? I have an appt with a dermatologist, but it's not for two months. What can I do in the meantime?

Thanks for any words of wisdom!

Hi, I haven't got any words of wisdom - but I have been getting lots of red blind boil type things too- hairline, chin, jaw, neck etc etc. They are painful and take ages to go. I have been rubbing in some aloe vera, which has taken the redness down, but it seems that once they appear, they have to go through a cycle before they will go!!

Try some aloe if you can, or someone recommended to me tea tree oil - hope you find something that helps.

I have the same thing. Heck I have been eating better than I probably ever have, and not wearing make-up (since I am off during the summer); and yes, this is so much worse than I was kid... I get the same little ones all over my face, and then a few huge ones as well...

I was watching this show on BBCA You are what you eat, and this woman that host the show, was dealing w/a woman that had the exact same thing... The host said that is a "classic sign of your hormones being out of whack".... Ya think...

Hi EB

I'm 42 also, and I've been getting a monthly gigantor zit on the side of my nose. They are so deep and big that long before I even know what's going on, I have pain in my nose and wonder if I hit myself or ran into someting - LOL! A friend of mine who is peri also has been getting them. My last one never even came to a head, it just disappeared after throbbing and hurting for nearly a week.

Oh yes, good times ;

Cyn3a, "monthly gigantor zits," that's exactly what they are! laugh.gif

And yes, the damn things do hurt! Although I have been eating really well this summer, lots of fresh fruits & veggies, mostly chicken & fish for protein, it hasn't seemed to help. I did some research and it looks like excess testosterone can be the culprit for this kind of acne. But I don't have the other symptoms like excess facial hair, so I don't know if that's what it is.

But it's certainly very aggravating! I have tried 10% benzoyl peroxide, which worked for a while. Now I'm on to salicylic acid, so we'll see how that goes. I'm wondering about supplements too, are there any that help with skin issues?

As if peri isn't bad enough, now we have pimples to deal with, for crying out loud! Ahh, the joys of being a woman . . . rolleyes.gif

Wash your face in the morning with mild soap and water. Pat dry and "powder" your face with talc. Not a lot. Just kinda lightly brush it on. It will absorb oil throughout the day and you wash it off at night.

I have more bumps on my face now then I ever did as a teen. I get those sore bumps that won't pop...more like a cyst/boil. Anyway they hurt like a mother!! I have one now on the bottom of my chin where the stupid chin hairs pop up!!

Oh ya..I have been getting these MONSTERS for a few years now...on my face..back...anywhere really....they are so painful and ugly..but they do fade with time....
I would try acne cream or Tea Tree Oil...
You know what works..weird I know..but Toothpaste...I put it on before I go to bad and it seems to calm it overnight....

Good luck
