I noticed it at Walmart yesterday in the vitamin section. It's a homeopathic remedy. I thought I might try it instead of L-theanine which is harder to find.

I've tried Bach's Rescue Remedy before and that helped a bit. I couldn't stand the alcohol taste, though.

I did try Hyland's Calms Forte for insomnia. It helped insomnia for me, but only for one or two nights in a row.

I keep a bottle of these all the time. They seem to help calm some of my panic/anxiety problems when I remember to take them. They also calm me down enough at night that I'm able to fall asleep. I've been using them about a year now. Of course, I've tried lots of things and this one is not a cure-all either, but it does seem to help for a while at least.

Hyland's Nerve Tonic has been a constant presence on my nightstand for about five years. Here's why. Long ago, I was a walking zombie from five night's straight of no sleep at all. By then, I walked up and down our street all night with a flashlight, quietly reciting lines to all the houses, believing I was literally watching over them as they slept. Then I came back inside and taped cotton balls to all the cupboards and doors in case there should be any noise. It all made perfect sense at the time. Although I shouldn't have been behind the wheel of a car, I drove to a health food store in search of something to help me sleep. I was making no sense at all to the people who worked there. I started to leave, when the oowner caught up with me at the door and related this story:

She had a similar problem and went to a naturopath. He told her that the longer you go without any sleep, the harder it will be to ever get to sleep. (duh) He said to take 12 tablets when she went to bed and that whenever she woke up, to take 12 more, continuing this way through the night. Next night and the night after, do the same until she only woke up a few times, and then the next night only at bedtime. She said it took awhile, but eventually helped her get out of her long total insomnia and establish a sleep routine. She encouraged me to try this approach.

I did and it worked. Now I use it this way, but not after 4:00 a.m. It doesn't work for me after that. Instead, I use a few tablets of coffea cruda and it will turn off my brain and let me sleep. I still don't sleep well through the night, but if I do a really, really good workout at the gym every other day, I can sleep more easily.

I know it seems like a lot of pills, but I dodn't suffer any ill effects from doing this to turn around total insomnia. Good luck.

I had tried the Calms Forte, too, with zero effect. So yes, the Nerve Tonic works for me.

Yes, 12-24 pills is a lot. I think just bottle I bought at Walmart barely has that many in it. Are you able to buy it somewhere in a larger quantity?

What is coffea cruda? Do tell!

My bottle starts out with 100 pills, but I only use 6 - 8 per night. I don't even know what coffee cruda is in real life, but when I saw it among the little homeopathic tubes with the words 'for insomnia with mental activity', I snatched it up. For me, it works after 4:00 when my mind has already started cranking through the day ahead. And I take a lot of them at one time, too. Have been using this and the Nerve Tonic for a number of years. But, please remember, I am still trying to kick a 25+ year benzo habit (=depression, not peri, back in the dark ages). I must have a greater tolerance.

Except that I mis-spelled "didn't", and that the bottle has 500 pills, not 100. tongue.gif

Are you in the US? Where to you buy such a big bottle of the Nerve Tonic?

I'm not GK but I have the 500-count pill bottle too. I order them from an internet site. There are several that sell this size bottle for around $8.00. Hyland's also has a website where you can check out their other products. But you can order them from other places cheaper than from the source. I plan on ordering some of their Sepia too, since I've read so many positive things about them. Has anyone here tried that yet? I'm new to this board. This is only my second post! I am so happy to find it. Before, I felt so isolated with my peri-quest. Now, I feel like I am in good company. Thanks ladies!
