hi to all my peri /meno/ post friends! I was thinking this morning about the 'post' on short days and I hate them too!Despise them is more the word! When I read all the replies - I could swear that you all live in Nova Scotia, Canada! For 2 years we have had the worst dark, rainy, foggy weather!
I have decided that I am going to try to make the best of 'fall' being right around the corner and stay as positive as I can. I have convinced myself that -'It is what it is' and I had better face it! I am sooo tired of making myself more depressed!
A couple of things that I love about winter is putting my 'nightie' on much earlier at night and playing on my computer! I'll spend the whole winter talking to you guys if I have to!! I have even considered painting my little computer room bright yellow and hanging a cheerful sun up.I am going to look for one in the mall,In the summer, there is sooooooooo much outdoor work to be done when you live in a house and I hate that too, so I will not miss all that extra work outdoor work! I am going to write out a list of 'things' that I have procrastinated on and get them done this winter.I am going to FORC E myself to put on some music and wallpaper and fresh paint in a few places around here to cheer me up. I am going to FORCE myself to go to the malls after supper and just walk around (weather permitting). I have already 'upped' my vitamin D to a fairly large dose and my doctor recommened a tanning bed 3 times aweek for the uvb rays. (he said it's when we overdo the tanning that it becomes bad)
Let's get some positive ideas going on how we can make the winter, darker months a little more tolerable. Please, girls, give me some new ideas! What are you going to do? love you all! rolleyes.gif From, the princessgod of menopause!

Get yourself a full spectrum light!! Put it somewhere you can use it daily, like say use it to put your makeup on with. Do some kind of exercise, it keeps energy up and depression away. Take the time to appreciate the beauty of fall and winter. Even a fog laden, overcast day offers a special kind of beauty.

I like all your ideas and appreciate your effort. I too hate winter, hate cold, leave work and it's pitch dark, snow, snow and more snow. Fall is not so bad, it's pretty and crisp. I need to exercise more too, and I hear what you say about FORCE yourself to do things. I'm going to get my full spectrum light out and get back on the treadmill. I look forward to any and all ideas on how to get through winter!

Im the opposite and dont mind the shorter days of Fall and winter. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. I love Halloween and go all out for it. We even hit alot of haunted houses and have a blast. biggrin.gif
I enjoy the peace and solitude of winter and I play alot of mystery adventure computer games. By the time March rolls around Im ready for warmer weather but I cant take the heat of a hot summer. This year we were lucky (IMO biggrin.gif ) and had a beautiful summer with the temps mainly in the mid to upper 70's. Today and tomorrow though its a heat wave, 95 and humid. I hate that. but then the rest of the week should go down to the 80's. I prefer the 70's but thats the way it go's.

If you suffer fromn depression from the shorter days I think its a great Idea to do whaat your doing and just try to make the best of it, remember it dosent last forever and change can be good. My neice suffers from seasonal depression and takes prozac for a short period to pull her out of the funk. Seems to really help her.

Good luck! Helen smile.gif

Fall is my FAVORITE time of year! Walks at the river are incredible as we watch everything change color. Walking the dogs on a full bed of leaves along the river....saving caterpillers from certain death from being stepped on (my mission or is it obsession?) and the smells! Oh the smells of fall are just heavenly! Warm cozy jammies snuggled up to a man and a good movie. Summer is actually my LEAST favorite time of year, go figure. I'm a water girl and just LOVE rainy weather.

Ladybug I feel the same. I love the smells and colors of fall, summer is also my least favorite season.

The only time I really enjoy hot weather it is if Im on vacation at the beach. biggrin.gif
